The Proposal Story

November 27, 2012 by Tiffany

Welcome to Seeing Sunshine! I'm so glad you've stopped by! Make sure you never miss a post by subscribing via email. This post may contain affiliate links, so be sure to view my disclosure policy.

For those of you who don’t know, I am engaged. Talk about sunshine! Travis and I have talked about marriage many times, but I had no idea he’d propose so soon. It’s safe to say I was in complete shock the entire time. So for everyone who is dying to hear the proposal story — here ya go!

Read all about how he popped the question (with 72 candles)!

Proposal Story: How He Popped the Question

While the rest of you were out shopping your tail bones off and snatching up awesome deals on Black Friday, I was at work. Travis came that evening to take me out to eat. We went to a Mexican restaurant — my choice. Then we went to a Christmas parade there in town. I had to take video footage of the parade for work. Then we stayed for fireworks and listened to Christmas music while I oohed and ahhed.

I had to go back to work to upload the video I had taken of the parade to the website, so I gave Travis my house key so he could come back to my house. I called him to tell him I was leaving work and would be home soon. I asked what he had been doing while I worked and he said sleeping. (Yeah right!)

When I got home from work, I walked into the house and immediately saw something in front of my face. He had strung yarn up from one wall to the other and then down the hall toward the kitchen. Then hanging from the yarn were pictures of us from when we first started dating up until now, in a timeline order. And throughout the pictures were notes from him. The first note said, “Tiffany, I have a special surprise for you, but first I want to tell you a story …” The other notes told the story of our relationship.

He also had candles (72 of them!) placed on the floor in a path following the trail of photos. The very last note said something like “Our relationship has had ups and downs, and I don’t know exactly what the future holds. But follow the path to start the next chapter of our story.”

Then I turned the corner into the kitchen, and he was on one knee in a circle of candles. He told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. And then he asked me the question I’ve waited my whole life to hear: Will you marry me?

I said yes! I hugged him and kissed him, and then he put the most beautiful ring you can imagine on my finger.

It turns out he had actually been at my house all day while I was at work. I thought he was two hours away at his parents’ house. He even texted me saying things like “I’m leaving now” or “One hour away” or “Hit some traffic.” What a little sneak!  He was really at my house setting up all the candles and photos the whole time. He was also at my parents’ house, asking for their permission. 🙂

All of these photos were taken after the proposal. I didn’t walk through taking photos the whole time! 🙂

So there you have it friends, my very bright sunshine story! And since everyone asks if we have a date, I’ll tell you we are planning to have a wedding this summer.

That’s our proposal story. Here’s a summary of our love story.

So, so pleased to have Travis in the family and to see the twinkle in your eyes and the true smile back on your face.
