I’ve already shared so many details with you about my wedding — decor & food, attire, and gifts — but now, let’s talk about our wedding reception! Basically, the party after the serious part. You saw the decorations and what food we ate. But let me share more photos and some more details with ya’ll. It was the biggest day of my life, OK? So just bare with me here.
Our Wedding Reception
We had the DJ introduce our wedding party as they entered. Travis and I entered the reception and made our way to the center of the dance floor where he dipped me. And yes, kissed me too! Oh la la…
We cut our cake first so that guests could get some cake if they wanted. Travis and I had no idea what we were doing! Luckily, the caterer came over to help us figure it out. After we cut the cake, the wedding party got their food. We had let the guests go ahead and start eating while they waited for us. We took a long time between the ceremony and reception, but those photos were so important to me!
Next, my maid of honor gave a toast and the best man gave a toast. They both did a fantastic job! The first picture cracks me up. Aubrey is giving her speech while Craige writes his!
Then, Travis and I had our first dance as a married couple. We danced to Two Is Better Than One by Boys Like Girls featuring Taylor Swift. I don’t think it was the average first dance song, but it had meaning to us. Plus, it went along with our scripture for the wedding and our marriage — Two are better than one, for they can help each other succeed. (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
During the father/daughter dance, my dad and I danced to My Little Girl by Tim McGraw. During the mother/son dance, Travis and his mom danced to Perfect Fan by Backstreet Boys.
We did a bouquet toss and a garter toss, as tradition. I wore two garters — one for Travis to toss and a special one I got for him to keep.
I love how it looks like Chris, the guy who caught the garter, is praying while the rest of the guys are ready to catch it! Side note: His girlfriend is the one who caught my bouquet … hmm, wedding in the future?
Then there was lots of dancing and celebrating!
At the end of the night, we had a sparkler send off! It was a great way to exit in our decorated car!
What were your favorite parts of your wedding reception?
