Isn’t it important for couples to tell each other “I love you” every day? Isn’t it also important to tell each other why you love the other person? I think that’s very important in a marriage. At the very least, us wives need to hear reassurance of our husbands’ love for us. And we definitely want to know why it is you love us. Who doesn’t like a compliment?
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. -Romans 12:10
So as a new and creative way to show each other our love, I put together an easy-to-make craft. I’ve been wanting to make this since before we got married, and now I finally did it. It’s a photo frame that says, “I love you because…” and we can write in why we are feeling love toward each other that day with a dry erase marker.
How to Make This Frame
So in case you’d like to make one for you and your hunny, here’s how I did it:
What You’ll Need:
- Dry Erase Marker (I could only find a pack of three).
- Photo Frame (I used a 5×7).
- Fun or colorful paper that matches the size of your frame (Scrapbook paper works great, but don’t use anything so colorful that you won’t be able to see the writing).
- Scissors
- Sharpie
- Scotch Tape
I decided to trust my own handwriting. I was feeling daring. So I used a Sharpie to write, “I love you because…” on a piece of light colored paper. I thought it turned out really well considering sometimes my handwriting can look like that of a 3rd grader.
Next, I wanted to add a little something extra — something creative and cute so it wouldn’t be so boring. I decided to add small hearts. I used a light pink paper to cut hearts out. Here’s a tip, don’t just try cutting out a heart. At least not if you have my craft talents. I had much better luck when folding the paper in half and cutting the heart out that way.
We didn’t have any glue or a glue stick in our home. We don’t have toddlers and I rarely make any type of crafts… but I decided since the paper will be in a frame anyway, tape will do the trick just fine. I taped the hearts to my paper.
I was loving how it was turning out, but it didn’t seem very balanced. So I added one more heart to the bottom.
I placed the paper inside the photo frame and viola! My craft was done.
I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, and we have been having fun writing little notes of love back and forth to each other!
Do you think you could figure out how to make this craft for yourself?
