September Visitors

September 27, 2013 by Tiffany

Welcome to Seeing Sunshine! I'm so glad you've stopped by! Make sure you never miss a post by subscribing via email. This post may contain affiliate links, so be sure to view my disclosure policy.

Before September is over, I want to share with ya’ll about the fun we had with our visitors this month. My brother and his girlfriend, along with my parents, came to see us! Logan and Kendall (that’s my little bro and his woman) could only stay for the weekend because their college classes called. My parents, though, stayed for a whole week! This is a summary of our time with our visitors — mostly in pictures — if you follow me on Instagram you may have seen some of these. (I LOVE Instagram!)

On our first day with everybody, we went to Tybee Island for some beach time. We packed a picnic lunch — sandwiches, chips, string cheese, bananas, cookies — for everyone and loaded up our sunscreen, towels and beach chairs. Since my family doesn’t live close to the beach, we know they will want to visit the ocean while they are here. And we sure don’t have any problem with that! I love excuses to go lay out, soak up the rays and bask in the ocean air.

After Tybee, we came home and had tacos and Reese’s frozen pie, celebrating my brother turning 21!

The next day, we visited Wormsloe Historical Site in Savannah. This is a great place for photos, but after paying $10 each to get in and look around I think we all agreed it wasn’t worth the money. If you are a big history buff you may enjoy it, but none of us were that much into it. The best part, though, is the beautiful entrance and you don’t have to pay to see that!

Then we took my family to one of my favorite spots in Savannah — River Street. I love strolling down this street while holding my hubby’s hand. They have so many neat things to see and taste. I love sampling all the flavors in The Peanut Shop! And we always seem have to stop for some gelato!

We saw how they make taffy and even got to try some. I have to admit, it was the best taffy I’d ever had! Then Travis bought me a few truffles, just because. What a man!

My brother and dad both got tattoos. Not real ones, but it was still cool!

And finally we tried on tons of sunglasses! They were only $5! I don’t know how I didn’t walk away with any! But Logan and Kendall both did!

Once it was just my parents visiting, we took them to Jekyll Island to walk along Driftwood Beach — a spot I just love! But driftwood wasn’t the only thing being washed up on shore — we also saw a baby shark, a sting ray and even a tumbleweed!

Here are a couple of my favorite photos from the visit! My mama is beautiful and my husband is fun!

We also drove over to St. Simons Island. Travis and I had never been there before, but it looked to me like a lot of good shopping! My mom was excited to see the lighthouse we had spotted from Jekyll Island up close.

I was excited to see this sign!

At the end of the week, we all ate at Uncle Bubba’s restaurant, which is close to Tybee Island. My favorite part of that day, though, was playing a “Name Five” game in the car on the way home!

We had a great time with my family! And we’re looking forward to our visitors coming in October.
