We have had visitors almost every month we’ve lived here so far. July, September and now October have all brought my family to Georgia. It’s been great! First, I love hosting guests. I like the cleaning and preparing and I enjoy showing them around our area. But most of all, I love it because I get to see my family! I love living here in Georgia, but I miss my family a lot. Having different folks come visit is a special treat that eases my homesickness and helps them see how great it is here.
This month, my grandparents and mom came to visit. They stayed at our apartment for a few days and then the four of us headed to Hilton Head Island for a few days. Travis had to work, but he came for the weekend before we all headed separate ways.
So here’s a recap of what we did with our October visitors. Prepare yourself for a lot of photos! 🙂
We took them out to a local restaurant called Captain Joe’s. They have a really good salad bar, and I think everyone enjoyed their meals. Here’s my mama holding up the menu!
We took them to my favorite Savannah spot — River Street! Cobblestone streets, brick sidewalks overlooking the river, old buildings with lots of character and the cutest little shops around — who couldn’t love it?
I had been looking for some red Ray Ban sunglasses. In September, when we took my family to River Street a sunglasses store was having a big sale. I was sure the sale would be over, but it wasn’t! I was able to get the sunglasses I wanted for only $5!
While looking through an art gallery, we turned to find the best piece of art! My grandpa with his goofy grin looking through the window at us!
At lunch, I asked my grandma to take a photo of my mom and I. I gave her my iPhone and two seconds later we had six photos that all looked alike and one of me saying, “OK, you can stop! You took it.” It was really funny!
We then headed to Hilton Head Island to stay at a condo. It was beautiful and so spacious. The Jacuzzi bathtub was awesome, and the swan towels reminded me of my honeymoon.
I saw an alligator in the wild for the first time ever. It wasn’t in a zoo! I wish I could have gotten closer or that the alligator was bigger! So it’s a horrible picture, but that’s a real life alligator folks!
My grandparents are just too cute! They are that couple that’s still in love, still hold hands and still serve each other no matter their age. A great example of a Christian marriage!
My favorite part of the whole trip was going to this lighthouse. It was a really neat spot. We got to go up to the top — 144 steps up. It was a great view and we even saw dolphins out in the ocean!
On the last night, we ate at a really good restaurant called Big Jim’s BBQ and then, after walking around forever, we finally found a cupcake place so I could soothe my sweet tooth craving.
It was a great time with family! Unfortunately, I got sick in the middle of the week. But even with my sore throat and stuffy nose, I was glad I got to spend time with my grandparents and mom. Now that they’re back home, I’m resting, eating soup and blowing my nose about 100 times a day. Seriously, I’m on my second Kleenex box!
