Turning Frozen Pizza into a Delivery-Like Delicacy

November 18, 2013 by Tiffany

Welcome to Seeing Sunshine! I'm so glad you've stopped by! Make sure you never miss a post by subscribing via email. This post may contain affiliate links, so be sure to view my disclosure policy.

One summer as a kid my older cousin Sara babysat for my brother and I while my parents worked. It was probably the best summer of my childhood. Sara was my role model and my hero, and she made that summer a blast! One thing I remember about that summer was how Sara turned a boring lunch of frozen pizza into a delicious pizza that tasted like it was straight from the delivery man. I liked it so much that to this day I still use her methods when making frozen pizza!

Now my favorite kind of pizza is pepperoni. Anyone who really knows me, knows that. So I’m going to focus these tips on pepperoni pie, but you can use them for any frozen pizza. I like the little personal pizzas best because they are the perfect size for me, and I think they cook better than large pizzas.

Check out these tips for making boring frozen pizza taste like a delivery delicacy!

Spice Up Your Frozen Pizza

The best thing you can use to add some sunshine to your frozen pie is seasonings. There are so many flavorful seasonings that are perfect for this dish. Dash them on top and let the baking goodness commence. Here’s the seasonings I use to make my frozen pizza taste like it came straight from the hands of the delivery boy:

  • Garlic salt
  • Onion powder
  • Parmesan cheese

I sprinkle garlic salt and onion powder over it — not too much. Then, I put Parmesan cheese on top! I think it adds so much extra flavor! You can also use Italian seasoning, oregano or crushed red pepper as other spices for your pizza. Chop up some fresh basil for a really delicious flavor addition!

Other things you can use to kick up the flavor of your frozen pizza is more toppings. The chopped up pepperonis just don’t cut it for me, so I cover the pie in pepperoni slices that I buy from the store. I love pepperoni so I cover it with them! I like these pepperoni slices better than the ones that come on the frozen pizza because they are thinner and get more crispy while cooking.

You can also put extra cheese on it by using shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese. Chop up some green or red peppers to put on top. My parents like to add chopped onion to their frozen pizzas. You can add mushrooms, olives, or any other topping you love. Who likes pineapple? My brother was always big on experiments — one time he even put BBQ sauce on top before baking it. He loved it and still does it to this day! So experiment, make it fun, and enjoy the extra flavor your frozen pizza now has!

I like to do this with toast too. I toast the bread first, spread on the pizza sause, oregano and cheese. Then microwave it for 30-60 seconds. Great for breakfast.
