What a fantastic year 2013 was for me and my family. So many blessings and so much love! This post is a recap of how my past year was.
We have a niece! Our first niece was born in January, giving me a reason to buy baby clothes (which I love!). She is precious, and I love spending time with her.
I turned 24. I spent my birthday weekend meeting my new niece who was only a few days old. She’s the youngest baby I’ve ever held. Travis and I visited her and our nephew before driving on to Georgia. While there, we looked at houses, condos and apartments until we picked the one we loved most. Travis moved in and we explored the area together before I came back to Indiana to prepare for the wedding.
In April, I got to eat fondue, play games and open gifts at my awesome bridal shower. It was perfect and exactly what I wanted.
In May, I left my job as a reporter at a newspaper. It had been a great learning experience, but I was ready to move on.
I celebrated the end of my singleness with a bachelorette party planned by my maid of honor. We had a great time. I plan on telling you all about it sometime this year. I just never got around to writing a post about it.
In June, it was wedding madness! Lots of prep for the big day and then the big day itself. My wedding was everything I could have hoped for and dreamed of. The best part was the guy standing next to me, but I also loved my wedding party and my dress!
Travis and I honeymooned in St. Lucia, and it was AWESOME. I love the beach and relaxing at an all-inclusive resort was the best. My favorite part was definitely horseback riding on the beach and even in the ocean.
Then, I moved to Georgia to live with my husband. I’ve enjoyed decorating our apartment and being a housewife. Even though I miss my family, we’ve had so much fun exploring our area and having family come visit us. There are so many fun places and things to do near southern Georgia. I’m so glad Fort Stewart is his first PCS.
In the fall, I began writing for a local newspaper and magazine. I was published in a Chicken Soup for the Soul and my blog readership grew more than ever before. Travis got promoted and switched to a job he really enjoys. We also attended our first military ball.
For the holidays, we got to go home to Indiana to spend Christmas with both our families. We are blessed to have our families only live a couple hours apart, so we were able to see both and go to many of the Christmas get-togethers. We enjoyed delicious food and all the presents we opened, but most of all we loved the quality time with the people we love most.
It was a great year – definitely a season of joy! We are thankful for all the ways God has blessed us, and we are looking forward to all 2014 has in store!
Happy New Year friends!
