Healing Playlist: Songs to Heal Your Heart

February 10, 2014 by Tiffany

Welcome to Seeing Sunshine! I'm so glad you've stopped by! Make sure you never miss a post by subscribing via email. This post may contain affiliate links, so be sure to view my disclosure policy.

With Valentine’s Day on its way and getting closer and closer, I was really feeling for those out there who just aren’t feeling the love this month. I decided to share my writings from when I was going through my own break up and dealing with my own heart break, as a way to, hopefully, spread some sunshine for those who are hurting. You are not alone. You will get through this.

This is the third installment of A Glimpse into my Heart Break.

Check out these 20 songs to listen to when you've had your heart broken.

I think music speaks straight to our hearts a lot of the time. So when your heart needs healing or uplifting or maybe it needs the freedom to grieve, to finally let it out — listen to this playlist. It has songs that make me cry and help me release what I’ve held in all day. It has songs for those days when I am so tired of the tears, and I just want to feel strong for three minutes. It has songs that set aside the sorrow and let me tap my feet to the rhythm.

I suggest listening to the playlist in the order I listed. I started with the songs that will help you grieve and release your emotions; then I moved to the songs that would help calm you down. Next are encouraging songs that will uplift you and finally a couple songs that should bring you a little joy.

No matter where you are at in the healing process — from the most painful part to the acceptance to the finding joy again — I hope this playlist helps you move forward in whatever way you need to.

Listen to this Healing Playlist

  • Let It All Out – Relient K
  • Falling Apart – Lifehouse
  • Worn – Tenth Avenue North
  • I’m Not Alright – Sanctus Real
  • God Can You Hear Me – Tait
  • Stand in the Rain – Superchick
  • Healing Begins – Tenth Avenue North
  • Hold – Superchick
  • Hold My Heart – Tenth Avenue North
  • Crawl (Carry Me Through) – Superchick
  • Your Hands – JJ Heller
  • Strong Enough – Matthew West
  • Keep Breathing – Alanna Story
  • Breathe – Superchick
  • Keep Breathing – Kerrie Roberts
  • Before the Morning – Josh Wilson
  • Hold On – TobyMac
  • Stronger – Mandisa
  • I Smile – Kirk Franklin
  • Hold Me – Jamie Grace

Even in the heartbreak, remember God is still in control and He loves you. And because of that, you have a reason to keep singing.

(Disclaimer: Travis and I eventually got back together, and now we are happily married. That might not be the exact ending to your story, but I can guarantee that God does have a plan for your life and He will bring you out of this darkness if you let Him.)

Be sure to read the other installments in my series A Glimpse into my Heart Break including Waiting for Morning and Ways to Mend a Broken Heart.

If you have other songs that you think would be a great fit for this healing playlist, please share them in the comments.

Groove Shark is a free service that you can share playlists and people can listen to them right in their web browser. For example, here is some of my favorite Christian songs right now…
