Here are the top five things I’m thankful for this Thursday.
1. That my Travis is home from the field. I know it’s only been a week, but I missed that guy. He’s my best friend and I’m so happy to get to tell him all the little things again.
2. For Skype. I was able to chat with my cousin Bree for a few hours while I was home alone. It was such a nice break from talking to myself all day! I don’t know that I could live so far from my family without all the technology we have today.
3. That God wants to hear our questions and concerns. I feel like I have been questioning a lot lately, and I felt bad because of it. I felt like a bad Christian for asking God these questions, but a sweet friend of mine posted these words this week:
“I often second guess why in the world He would want to talk to me. Especially when I have questions echoing in my heart, and I wonder why I cant hear or discern the answers. Sometimes the better thing than getting answers is just having someone with whom to share the questions. He welcomes that.” — @ashliewrites
And I realized God is loving my questions. He loves that I’m even asking, that I’m sharing, that I’m striving for more wisdom in areas that seem so unclear. Ashlie helped me accept my own questions so I can more openly come to the Lord concerning them.
4. For new friends. I went to several new events this past week and met more Army wives. It takes a long time to grow new friendships and it can be difficult to meet new people, but it’s slowly happening.
5. For air conditioning. A couple weeks ago, we didn’t have air conditioning. It had broke and our house was smoking! It was so hot! I’m so thankful they were able to fix it quickly and we have a cool place to relax in. This includes air conditioning in our cars! Man, does it get hot in the south!
What are you thankful for this Thursday?

#1 the trials, questions and heartaches that brought me into a closer relationship with God and allowed me to realize He is very real! He loves me and cares and that I’m not to lean upon my own understanding…because I’ll never understand all there is to God and his plans.
#2 my close family on both sides and knowing any of them would be there for me if I needed them. The fun both sides have and for the faith we all lean upon.
#3 my husband and our life together. He has always spoiled me and made me laugh. He has supported me and he protects me and he gave me two precious children.
#4 my two kids who I love very much. I consider raising them my greatest accomplishment. I’m proud of the adults they are now!
#5 my job and coworkers. I love the mission of SMWC and the close community of faculty, staff and students. Such a rewarding place to work!
