One of my favorite parts of Allume was meeting new people and hearing about their blogs. It felt good to connect with others who get blogging and love Jesus.
You know how when you meet a new friend and you really like her, you want to introduce her to the friends you already have? Or when you read a great book and you say, “Mom, you have to read this book; it’s so good!” and you let her borrow it? Or when you hear a hilarious speaker at a blogging conference and wish all your friends could be there too so you could laugh together?
That’s what I’m feeling. I met some really awesome people at Allume. People that I look at now and go “I know these people!” I consider my readers my friends. So I want to introduce you to the people I met.

First of all, I met Melissa from A Virtuous Woman. I’ve introduced you guys to her before because she’s in my mastermind group. That means we’ve been friends for a year and we just now met in person! It was great to see her face-to-face, hear her voice, and have someone to sit next to when we were both nervous at the beginning of the conference.
I met Debbie from Dare 2 Hear. She is a speaker and author. I loved having a deep conversation with her during our first night at Allume. I felt like I could open up to her and she spoke life into me.
When I met Debbie, I also met her good friend Patti from Old Things New. Patti was so fun — she pulled us all onto the dance floor during one of the Allume parties. I loved chatting with her at the Dayspring table. On her blog, she shows us how she takes old things like furniture and makes them new. If you love decor and crafts and furniture, go check it out. She also talks about how God turns us from old to new. And Patti introduced me to…
Jen from Hope for the Steps. OK, this was just a God thing. This woman is going through a season in life that I went through just a couple years ago. She is in the midst of it and I’m on the other side. We told each other our stories in the 20 minutes before she had to leave to catch her flight back to Colorado. I was able to encourage her, although she seemed pretty darn faithful if you ask me. I’m so thankful that we were able to connect. I’m praying for you Jen!
It was awesome to meet someone my age who seemed to be in the same life stage as me. I loved how Morgan from Living a Page Turner has started a mentor program for three groups of women — high school girls, college ladies, and middle-aged women. It’s a three-tiered program, and I think it’s awesome. I wanted to follow Morgan around, sit with her at all meals, and basically be her new best friend. Did I mention I love Morgan’s style? I wish we lived closer because I would love to go on a double date with her and her husband.
When I met Morgan at lunch one day, I also met Amy from Divine in the Daily. I have loved reading Amy’s blog. And I think you will too. Yes, go check it out. (Well, after you read the rest of this post!) She has a beautiful family and is so sweet. And she has a dream of going on like 30 cruises! Whoa!
At the welcome mingle, I met Chris from ChrisMalkemes.com. When she found out I’m an Army wife, she took me under her wing. Chris made me feel more welcome and comfortable in a room full of 400 women. She introduced me to other military wives that I wouldn’t have otherwise met. She also gave me a book just because called Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives. Isn’t that sweet?
Then there was Meg from Me with the Three, who loves photography and crafts. Her business cards alone show her creativity. And guess what, she has a House to Home series just like me! So go take a tour of her home!
I wish I had pictures with all these women! But I was too busy learning and listening and talking and connecting.
Other great women I met:
- Cassondra from Beyond the Inspiration
- Cyndi from Walking in Grace and Beauty — This woman has style. As she better, she runs a fashion blog!
- Amanda from Life with a Mission — Loved her post about Allume!
- Mandy from From Lukewarm to Zealous Pursuit — Another blog about her coming soon
- Dollie from Teachers of Good Things
More posts about my time at Allume coming soon…
