Christmas 2014 Recap Part 2

December 29, 2014 by Tiffany

Welcome to Seeing Sunshine! I'm so glad you've stopped by! Make sure you never miss a post by subscribing via email. This post may contain affiliate links, so be sure to view my disclosure policy.

Did you see Part 1? In my first recap of our Christmas, I left off on Christmas Eve day.

After lunch with my family, we headed to Grandma’s for our annual Canasta Tournament. Grandma buys random gifts throughout the year to use as prizes for our game day. First we played charades, then canasta, then hand and foot. We break into different teams and whoever wins each game gets to pick a prize. Since you can steal prizes from each other, it can get a little crazy.

Christmas Eve night it’s tradition to have a birthday party for Jesus. We all sit around the living room with only the glow of the Christmas tree lights. We go around the room sharing what we’re thankful for or some of our favorite memories from the year. Several people in my family have an emotional gene where they cry at the drop of a hat — so there’s quite a bit of crying going on around the circle. We always sing Silent Night and Happy Birthday. At the end of the night, we eat some type of dessert. This year we had ice cream.

Now … to Christmas Day! Finally!

We went to the Spelbring get-together for Christmas Day. We ate a delicious lunch and had a Dirty Santa game with all the gifts. I came home with an adorable sign that I’m going to hang up in the kitchen!

On the day after Christmas, we headed back to northern Indiana to hang out with Travis’ family again. We spent a day playing games and picking prizes and opening gifts from each other. We have so much fun trying to win wads of cash in the claw game. It always gets crazy trying to make decisions together during Deal or No Deal and Let’s Make a Deal.

Game Day

The next day we went to Travis’ grandma’s for the last Christmas get-together. We ate lots of food and opened gifts in a gift exchange we did. I loved snuggling with my niece!

Overall, we had a fantastic week with our families celebrating the birth of Christ. I didn’t want to leave Indiana, but I’m so glad we enjoyed every moment. Now, we have a lot to do back in Georgia to get ready for the move. Stay tuned for updates on what’s next in our lives.
