My word for this year was Explore. And I think I did just that.
Travis and I were able to travel and explore many new places. We went to all sorts of cities in Florida. We went on our first cruise. We even hit up three new countries we’ve never been to. We spent my birthday weekend in Disney World.
I explored friendships — making one really great friend toward the end of the year and finding ways to strengthen another new friendship. Travis and I fed dolphins. We ran a 5K.
We celebrated our first anniversary. My brother got engaged. I rode a motorcycle for the first time. Travis got certified in scuba diving. I shot my first gun.
I explored writing opportunities. I took a job as the editor of the features section of a local newspaper. I got a brand new design for my blog. I went to my first blogging conference. I became an affiliate for more companies as a way to earn some extra income for our family.
I spent a month away from my husband as he trained, and I learned ways to sleep better when I’m scared at night. I attended several weddings, one of which gave me a new brother-in-law. I also welcomed a new niece into the world this year.
I explored what it means to be hospitable. I finished decorating our Guest Bedroom, Kitchen, and Dining Room. And I learned how to be a better a wife, something that’s an ongoing lesson.
Overall, it was a fantastic year full of joy. I’m so thankful for this season we are in.
