Things have gotten crazy around here so I wanted to let ya’ll know what’s been going on currently…
Thinking about: How I just want to get this move over with, and yet I want every single second with my husband to slow down. Very conflicting feelings going on over here! I’m wanting to cherish and savor every moment with my husband since I know my time with him is short and soon we’ll be saying goodbye at the airport. But at the same time, my house looks like it got tossed in a tornado and we’re running out of food. I’m just ready to get this show on the road — for the movers to come so we can clean our apartment and hand in our keys. And yet, I don’t want to leave this place.
Usually a move comes with a lot of excitement for the new place and a lot of “fresh start” feelings. As excited I am to be near family again, this move comes with a lot of ill feelings too. Because it means separation. I have a feeling once March rolls around I’m going to feel very emotionally drained. February feels like a lot of colliding feelings in my heart.
Reading: (Here come some affiliate links.) Two books. First, I’m reading Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way by Shauna Niequist. I’m loving it as expected. I’ve already recommended it two friends, and I haven’t even finished it yet! I’m also reading The Best Yes: Making Wise Decisions in the Midst of Endless Demandsby Lysa TerKeurst with The Intentional Filling book study. I really enjoy the weekly discussions with a community of women all reading the same book and gaining different insights.
Praying about: A smooth move. Safe travels to Indiana. To be a better wife. For safety as my husband travels to his new home. For protection as I live by myself.
Listening to: I got my husband an early birthday present and let him open it this week — Garth Brooks’ new CD. We’ve been listening to it while we clean and pack. I love the songs “All-American Kid” and “Mom.” I wanted him to have it early so he could listen to it during the drive back to Indiana.
Watching: We just finished the series Red Band Society, and it was really good. I was surprised the series was ending so soon, but I really liked the way they ended it. Another show that has ended and ended well — Parenthood. I’m so sad to see that family go, but I loved how they showed snippets of their futures. This show is quite the tear-jerker, but I think it’s because it’s so real and relate-able. If you haven’t seen Parenthood, you need to start from the very beginning and watch it. You can thank me later.
Eating: We are running out of food, so we’ve been eating out a lot. And I’m not complaining. It has been nice having a break from cooking, and I’ve loved getting one last chance to hit up some of our favorite restaurants.
Working on: Trying to get some blog posts written and scheduled so I don’t need to worry about them this week while we are moving. It would be nice to have next week scheduled too because I know it is going to be hectic.
So that’s what I’ve been up to currently. How about you?
