Let’s talk hair. I have naturally curly hair, and I love it. I get more compliments on my hair than anything else, and my husband loves my curls. But as a young teenager, my hair did not look good. I had no idea how to treat my hair. As I grew up, I learned better ways to take care of my hair and which products work best.
Do you have curly hair? If you wish you loved your hair more, I hope this post will give you ideas for taking better care of your curls.
1. Use a Wet Brush
I got this for Christmas one year and it has changed my life! Curly hair gets tangled so easily, but the Wet Hair Brush is like magic! It really helps keep the tangles out of my hair. I use it in the shower after I’ve put conditioner in my hair, but you can also use it right after your shower while your hair is still wet.
2. Use Leave-in Conditioner
I spray a little leave-in conditioner on my hair right after I get out of the shower. It helps with any tangles and makes my hair healthy. This is the kind I use — Healthy Sexy Hair Soy-Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner.
3. Get Haircuts Every 3-6 Months
I love my hair long, but if I don’t get it trimmed at least every six months it gets nasty. Get rid of split ends and rejuvenate your hair by getting a cut (even just to trim the ends) every 3-6 months.
4. Let Your Hair Air-dry
I never blow dry my hair unless I’m straightening it. Blow drying it can damage it, especially if you do it often. Blow drying my hair leaves it frizzy and fuzzy and not pretty. Let it air-dry whenever possible.
5. Find the Right Product for You
Every person’s hair is going to be different so some products might work great for your hair and others might not. I recommend finding a product such as gel or mousse to put in your hair as it drys. I use Garnier Fructis Style Curl Sculpting Gel after I brush out my wet hair and leave it in as my hair drys. It helps define my curls and keep frizz away.

Instead of blow-drying you can use a diffuser and it helps “diffuse” the air so it’s not so direct and harsh on curls! I don’t even own a blow-dryer, but when I did that’s all I used!! I also like some volume so I’ll put my wet hair in a loose messy bun on top of my head and let it dry a little- but not compleatly!! It sounds like I need to get a wet brush!!
