When we visited the 83 Tower in Daegu, we learned one of the very top floors is a romantic restaurant. We made reservations. We were both excited to get dressed up and have a romantic date night at this new restaurant.
The restaurant was beautiful and fancy and romantic — perfect for a special date. I loved the chandeliers on the ceiling, the huge bouquets of flowers, the candles on the tables — all of it. The very best part was the view of course! We could see the whole city with all its sparkling lights. Oh, and did I mention the restaurant rotated?! Yes, it rotates so you get a 365 degree view. It rotates very slowly, so you can barely tell. But we were able to rotate all the way around during our dinner.
We loved how they sat us at a love seat leather couch over looking the window.
We loved the atmosphere, and we also loved the food! 83 Grill has an eight-course meal where you get to choose from two options for each course. Travis and I are so different when it comes to food — we never once picked the same dish for a course. Our differences worked out to our advantage this time because we were both able to try everything on the menu.
83 Grill by Ashley Menu
First Course: Fleur de Sel de Gulerande Sable, Omja jelly with coconut yogurt, Beet financier, Grapefruit and mascarpone in rolled jamon
I honestly I have no idea what that means or what this was. We joked about how we weren’t sure if there was something on the plate that was just for decoration that we shouldn’t eat. But we ate it all, and liked most of it.
Second Course — Appetizer: Mango salsa with pan fried scallop OR Pickled radish and king crab tartar
Travis got the scallop and I got the Crab tartar. I couldn’t believe how much I loved this dish! They drew the tree on Travis plate — isn’t that so pretty?
Third Course — Soup: Chef special soup
We were served potato soup that had a ball of fried mashed potato in the center. It was delicious! We both wanted to lick the bowl!
Fourth Course — Pasta: Lasagna in bolognese sauce OR Cream sauce spaghetti with bacon and broccoli
Travis got the lasagna and loved it! I got the other pasta dish, but I didn’t love it.
Fifth Course — Cleanser: House sorbet
This was a small ball of shaved ice with a light lemon flavor. It was really good and it cleansed our pallets to prepare for the main course.
Sixth Course — Main Dish: Beef Rib-eye, Rib-eye roll or tenderloin steak OR Sous-vide seasonal vegetables and fleur de sel de guerande
I got the tenderloin steak, and it was seriously the best steak I’ve ever had. Travis got the fish, and he loved it.
Seventh Course — Dessert: Green tea ice cream with raspberry mousse OR Vanilla ice cream with grande-marnier “baba”
I got the green tea ice cream, which was so delicious. And the mousse had a rich raspberry flavor. Travis really liked his dish too. We thought it had a pineapple taste.
Eighth Course — Coffee & Mignardise: Assorted cookies with coffee OR tea
Yet again, Travis and I chose different options. He went for a cappuccino and I got hot tea. They brought us two small brownies and two small macaroons. They love macaroons here.
After dinner, it’s a good idea to go down one floor to the observation level. You can get closer to the windows to look below at E-world, which is all lit up at night.
