Travis and I are celebrating our second wedding anniversary this month. Of course, we are celebrating while being 7,000 miles apart, which can make it a little tricky. This year, I wanted to put my care package skills to the test and create something awesome for Travis to open as an anniversary gift.
My husband loves baseball. He’s played the game since he was a kid, and he loves to watch it too. He’s on a post-wide softball team in Korea, and I have no doubt that someday he will be a baseball coach for our own children. So a baseball themed care package was a perfect fit for my man.
I used scrapbook paper to decorate the flaps of the box. I also used sticker letters and baseball stickers to decorate and write the words, “Happy Anniversary Slugger!”
Here’s what I included inside the box:
- Sunflower seeds — in a variety of flavors. (Not pictured below because I bought them right before I sent it!)
- Cracker Jacks
- Slider shorts — Travis really needed these since he had just gotten scraped up while sliding into base during a game.
- Athletic shorts — You can never have enough of these, especially if you hate doing laundry!
- A baseball cap — I got a Purdue hat because that’s his favorite college team.
- A Cincinnati Reds Tervis travel cup — Lifetime guarantee means this cup was an investment!
- Reds socks
- Peanuts
- Reds ink pens — He’s always carrying a pen with him in his uniform, why not make it a baseball pen?
- Snacks — I got him a Hot N’ Spicy Pub Mix that I hope he likes!
- Candy — I got him some of those wax bottles with the juice inside. He loves those things and doesn’t get them very often.
- Big League Chew bubble gum — in a variety of flavors
- A sweet anniversary card
I wrote a little note to go with each item and stuck them to the items using some cute red and blue washi tape. I wish I had found this baseball washi tape though!
Here’s the box all finished and ready to go. I love how it turned out.
Here are some other ideas for items you could include in a baseball themed care package:
- T-shirt or jersey of his favorite team
- Keychain of his favorite team
- Beef jerkey — try this snack pack that comes with several flavors
- Spot It MLB Game
- A baseball mug for his morning coffee
- Super Stadium Baseball Game — we saw this at a store once, and Travis thought it was pretty cool!
- Baseball Card Game
- A baseball necklace for his favorite team
- This baseball prayer necklace — I love this one!

Even though our anniversary isn’t until Monday, my husband got his package early and I let him go ahead and open it while we skyped. I was just too excited to make him wait! Plus, there were things I wanted him to be able to use right away while he’s on his post-wide softball team. He loved the box full of goodies! He even said he and his teammates had just talked that very night about Big League Chew bubblegum. He said they all said it had been so long since they’d had it. That made me so happy that I included it! He was also really excited to use his slider shorts — no more scrapes for him! Here are some photos of him opening his box. He is just so cute!
