Welcome Basket for Renters

February 5, 2016 by Tiffany

Welcome to Seeing Sunshine! I'm so glad you've stopped by! Make sure you never miss a post by subscribing via email. This post may contain affiliate links, so be sure to view my disclosure policy.

When Travis and I moved to Missouri, we began renting out our home in Indiana. Although I didn’t know our renters, I wanted them to feel welcome and at home in our house.

Travis and I prayed for three things when we were searching for tenants:

  • To find someone who would pay the rent (and on time),
  • To find someone who wouldn’t tear up the house, and
  • To find someone that would be blessed by this home.

What a perfect way to begin blessing this couple than by leaving them a welcome basket. It was easy to put together, and we left it for them to find on the day they moved in.

Welcome Basket Ideas

Our Welcome Basket Included:

  • A bin to put everything in
  • Two oven mitts (with chickens on them because I knew the woman moving in loves chickens)
  • Two wine glasses
  • A bottle of sparkling grape juice
  • A pack of batteries
  • A Sharpie
  • Cute duct tape
  • The garage door opener
  • Sponges (the house doesn’t have a dishwasher)
  • A candle
  • A bag of chocolates
  • Contact list with phone numbers for utilities and local places
  • A card with a handwritten note

Inside Welcome Basket

I got most of these items at a dollar store, yet it makes such a nice gift to welcome someone to their new home. I highly recommend it if you are a landlord because it’s a great way to start off your relationship with your renters.

What other items would you add to a welcome basket?

This is such a great idea! We rented out our house in Tennessee for a couple years to two different families, but we never did anything as thought as this. If I received something like this I would definitely feel more motivated to take better care of the space!

Thanks Erica! Maybe you can do this for your next tenants!
