A greeting card with a gift card tucked inside — that’s what a I get my dad for Father’s Day every single year. Although I know he uses the gift cards and appreciates the gift, I don’t feel like I’m being very thoughtful or creative. Buying gifts for my dad is just hard.
I know my dad enjoys mowing the lawn and working with tools. He loves washing his truck and watching the same movie a million times. But as far as things he would like as a gift? I’m just not sure. Not sure what he already has. Not sure what he’ll actually use. Perhaps you are in the same boat. Is your dad tough to buy for?
In order to help all us children — young and old — out, I asked the men in my life for ideas on what exactly it is that they’d like to see wrapped in a bow on Father’s Day. Check out this list of ideas!
Gift Ideas for Father’s Day
Tailgate Backpack Cooler Chair
I think this is a great idea! It’s a cooler that doubles as a chair that triples as a backpack. What more could you want? Oh, how about make it personalized? Yes, you can choose the color and the name that goes on it. This is one of the ultimate gifts you can buy for Father’s Day.
This personalized barbecue kit makes a great gift for any dad who loves to grill. Each kit comes with a grill brush, spatula, basting brush, and tongs, with a case that has a zip closure and carrying handle. What I love about it is you can customize it, so you choose the color of the carrying case. You can even add his initials!
While you’re at it, grab him one of these fun men’s aprons. They are 50% off + free shipping with code DAD50 until the 12th. I personally like the one that says, “I Like Big Buns!”
This is something my own dad sent me that he wants! It securely fits all steering wheels up to 1-1/4 inches thick. It’s great for lawn and garden equipment. It turns that lawn mower steering wheel into a comfortable, ergonomic handle with a smooth spinning design.
Dad Socks
Someone told me when they were pregnant, they got their husband some cute “dad” socks for his first Father’s Day. She wanted to get him something small but practical as a way to celebrate his first time as a father. These socks on Amazon are cute.
Sander
One man told me he wanted power tools, specifically a sander. If he doesn’t have a sander, it’s time he got one. I got Travis this Black & Decker orbit sander for this birthday this year, and he uses it quite often as he begins the hobby of woodworking.
Car Wash
If you’ve got a papa who just loves his vehicle, this is a great option. You can give him a gift certificate to get his car washed, or you can take his vehicle for a day and wash it yourself. Take it to a car wash and clean the inside too. You can even fill up the gas tank while you’re at it. Throw an air freshener inside too!
If your dad loves to wash his own vehicle, like my dad who finds it relaxing, check out this 5-Piece Complete Car Kit from Turtle Wax.
The Yeti Cooler is basically the best and most-desirable cooler out there. Travis and his dad would both like one, especially for when they are deep sea fishing. Travis found out this year that Yeti also sells tumblers with the same awesomeness that the coolers have. These tumblers can keep your dad’s drink hot (or cold) for hours because it’s made with stainless steel and a double-wall vacuum insulation. This cup maintains ice twice as long as your plastic tumblers.
Bench Grinder
Remember how I was saying men love power tools? Well, Travis said one thing he would like is a bench grinder to use in his wood working. If your dad is into wood working and doesn’t have a bench grinder, check out this one from Grizzly.
Here’s another idea from Travis! He has so many hobbies, and one of them is scuba diving. He said he would love to get some scuba fins to use when he’s out scuba diving.
I love this mug from DaySpring. How funny! And it even has scripture on the back. Check out all of their gifts for dad here. Use code DAD10 to get $10 off any $40 purchase from the Father’s Day section.
This beautiful sign would be a great addition to a man cave. It will remind your father to be strong and courageous as God has called him to be. Plus, if you spend $40 at DaySpring in the Father’s Day section, use code DAD10 to get $10 off.
What ideas do you have for Father’s Day? What do you plan to get your dad or what would you like?

My husband loves his backpack cooler chair. He takes it to the Indy 500 every year, concerts and games. It is handy for when standing in line for a long time…you have a seat and small enough it has always gotten through security regulations.
Great ideas Tiffany. Thanks.
