Wow, is June really over? That seems nuts! I can’t believe I’ll be heading to sunny Florida this week for a family vacation! What do you have planned this summer?
Since it’s the end of the month it means we get to welcome Travis, my husband, to the blog and see what answers he’s got to some interesting questions.
Here are this month’s questions:
1. What’s one of your favorite memories with your dad?
I have MANY great memories with my dad! Growing up we would do everything together — fishing, hunting, basketball, baseball, wrestling, tennis, ping pong, teaching me to drive in his old Chevy S10, and the list could go on and on. But I would say the one memory that immediately popped into my head was the time we were fishing for catfish in a river when I was around 13 years old.
We were out in the middle of the river in the middle of the night. It was pitch black outside. I hooked the biggest catfish of my life! I reeled it all the way in and brought it out of the water. I was so proud and excited! Well, I couldn’t get the hook out of its mouth, so my dad had to do it for me. He had it in his hands, and the next thing I know the fish flopped right out of his hands, off the hook, knocked over our tackle box and started swimming down the stream! I saw the fish and all of our tackle floating down the river and I yell, “Grab it!” That’s when I see my dad basically belly flop into the river! He came up with a big catfish between his arms! It was so intense and so hilarious all at once!
2. What’s one thing you’re looking forward to when you become a dad?
I am looking forward to playing sports with my children! That was a huge bonding activity for my dad and I. But if my kids aren’t into sports, then I think I can get passionate for just about any activity. Whatever it is my kids are into, I can’t wait to join them and be there with them every step of the way, cheering them on.
3. Summer has begun. What’s your favorite summer activity?
My favorite summer activity is our annual family vacation to Florida! I am so thankful that this year all of my sisters and their family, plus Tiffany and I are all able to go. It has been a long time since we have all been able to go. I’m sure it’s going to be crowded and there will probably be some fighting (Have I mentioned how competitive my family is?) but it will probably be one of the best weeks of the year!
4. Would you rather eat the same meal every day for the next year or only get to eat one meal per day for the next year but it could be any meal you wanted?
I would rather eat the same meal every day for the next year and still be able to eat three times a day. And the meal I would choose is Tiffany’s tacos. Everything she makes is amazing but tacos are a meal that never ever get old to me!
5. If you could have any super power, what would you want to have and why?
I would want to fly! That would be so awesome to be able to get from point A to point B by not touching the ground. I could get to places faster, I would be able to have amazing views, and I would never have to get stuck in traffic!
I love Travis’ story about his dad and the fishing trip! Can’t you just picture it? They have so many funny stories! Stay tuned for next month’s questions!
