Life Lately: Looking Ahead

It has been awhile since I’ve wrote a “Life Lately” post where I update you on what’s going on with our little family of now three. My last post, which you can read here, was all about selling the farmhouse in Indiana. Since then, we’ve been enjoying life here in Tennessee. We have made lots of friends, found a good church, and we love being able to go back to Indiana to see family basically whenever we want.

Things are about to change though. And that’s why I’m writing this update.

Looking Ahead

Our lives are about to look very different. This is Travis’ last week working in his battalion. Soon, he will begin an internship with a program called Hiring Our Heroes, which helps soldiers transitioning out of the military into the civilian world. He will be working with a company here in Tennessee to gain business experience. It’s going to be strange to see him getting ready in the morning without putting on a uniform.

This internship will last for about three months. In April, the internship will finish and his terminal leave will begin. From there, I don’t have any updates yet. Travis has been working so hard to network, tweak his resume, and apply to jobs for this spring. I am so proud of him. He cares so deeply about providing for us, and it’s my hope that he can find a job he truly enjoys. We are praying for God’s guidance and that He will open the right door. We hope to end up closer to family than we are now.

We have really enjoyed our time here in Tennessee, but we are looking forward to what’s ahead. We think civilian life will suit us well. Moving again (for the fifth time in five years) doesn’t sound too appealing, but we’re hoping to stay put for awhile after this move!

As for me, I’ve hardly had time to blog. I’m not going to apologize because the little person who is taking up my time is way more important to me than this space on the Internet. Raylee has become my life, and that’s just fine by me! I spend my days playing with her, feeding her, putting her to sleep … When I do get time to myself, I’m really enjoying reading as I got several new books for Christmas. You can follow me on Instagram and Facebook for more daily and weekly updates. I love using Instagram stories for every day posts.

Raylee is getting her two front teeth in and is getting closer and closer to walking. She loves walking along furniture, but isn’t confident or balanced enough to take those steps on her own.

That’s our little family update. I’ll still blog here every once in awhile when I get a chance, and I’ll be sure to share updates on our life when I get the chance. I can’t wait to share where we will be moving to next — mostly because I can’t wait to know myself! We appreciate your prayers through this transition.
