Word of the Year: 2014

January 6, 2014 by Tiffany

Welcome to Seeing Sunshine! I'm so glad you've stopped by! Make sure you never miss a post by subscribing via email. This post may contain affiliate links, so be sure to view my disclosure policy.

I know most people posted their one word for 2014 last week, but I needed a little more time to decide what my word should be. The new year came in a rush! I was busy spending time with my family in Indiana — focusing on quality time rather than blogging. I did post a recap of the year, and let me tell you my word for 2013 fit perfectly. We were so blessed with so much love. Yes, my word for 2013 was love.

My year of 2013 was definitely filled with love from friends, family and my husband. Travis and I started reading The Five Love Languages, so I’ve been working on showing love in different ways.

This year of 2014 my word is explore.

One Word 2014

I first chose that word thinking of all the places I want to explore in our new area. Being in southern Georgia, there are so many places to visit — islands, Florida, South Carolina, and more. I know I really want to visit Charleston this year, and Travis and I are thinking about taking a cruise in the summer. (I hope so!) That’s how the word explore began in my mind. But it also has several other meanings.

I want to explore new friendships. I’m hoping to make some friends in our area — it gets really lonely when you don’t know many people. I want to explore new restaurants. Travis and I have a food passport, and I’d love to try all the restaurants we have written down by the end of 2014. I think I’ll be exploring new writing avenues this year. I’m meeting with an editor of a newspaper this week, and I may start writing a new column for them. Plus, I’d love to be published in another Chicken Soup book. And who knows, I may even explore some new designs for my blog.

This year has lots of possibilities, and I’m ready to explore them all. Bring it on 2014!
