Confidence. I hadn’t been feeling it. I gained some weight over the holidays, as most do. But it just wasn’t coming off and my workouts of running hadn’t been as good as they were before the holidays. I could see the difference in my body, and I was not pleased.
Wednesday night as I said my prayers with my husband before we went to sleep, I asked God to help me have better workouts. I asked Him to help me lose this extra weight and that I would feel confident about myself again. That might seem like a silly thing to pray about when so many other awful things are happening in this world, but I believe God wants an intimate relationship with us where we tell Him everything we are feeling because He does care about even the smallest things.
How Running Showed Me God Cares
The next day, I went to the gym for my daily workout. As I was runningĀ on the treadmill, I began asking God to push me. “Push me just a little farther God. Every time I’m ready to stop, please just push me just a little farther and help me keep running.”
That day, seriously I can say only through God alone, I ran farther than I have ever run at one time in my life. I hit my goal. I ran three miles. Without stopping. Nonstop three miles. I couldn’t believe it!
I thanked God. He had listened. He had heard my small, not-that-important prayer, and He cared. I really felt Him pushing me just a little each time I was thinking of stopping. I kept thinking of that confidence I wanted back, of the body I had before the holidays that I wanted back. And I kept going. Farther and farther until I reached my goal.
I guess I’m sharing this because 1) I’m excited and proud of myself, 2) I’m so thankful that God heard me and answered my prayer, 3) I want you to know no matter how small your request is or how silly it may seem, God wants to hear it and He wants to help you. If it’s important to you, it’s important to Him.
