I always have so much to be thankful for. Really, we all do. Even if you can think of nothing else, you can be thankful for God’s love, mercy, and grace and salvation from Jesus Christ. Yep. Even on the worst of the worst of days there is still sunshine. Still reasons to be grateful.
Here are five things I’m thankful for today:
1. For prayer warriors. The few nights I’m having to spend alone without Travis can be scary and lonely and just downright full of tears. But I have a few people (and maybe more than I realize) praying for me until his return. I know God hears those prayers as He calms my fears, gives me peace, and helps me fall asleep at night without tear-stained cheeks.
2. Speaking of which, I’m so glad to be in Florida right now with some of my favorite people instead of all alone in my house. We are having a fantastic time and it’s making this separation go much faster.
3. The ocean. I know I live close to it now and get to see it a lot, but I am still so thankful for it. I do not take it for granted. I love sitting out on the balcony watching the storms or rain roll in, the waves crashing and the clouds being well, just amazing. Oh, and seeing dolphins! 🙂
4. For the girls who are like my sisters. I have two cousins, Aubree and Morgan, who I grew up playing with. We started by playing Barbies, exploring the woods, and eating Popsicles on the porch. Moving away from them was really hard (just typing this makes me start to cry!), so spending this week with them has been so good on my heart. I have loved the time we get just getting ready together — asking, “Should I wear this dress or this one?” It makes these girls feel even more like my sisters, and I’m loving every minute of it.
5. I’m also so thankful for my grandparents. They are the ones who made this trip possible, and they will never know how grateful I am that they are willing to let me join them. They have been spoiling us rotten, and I wish we could find a better way to show our appreciation. Saying “Thank you” just doesn’t seem to cut it. I love watching them together. They truly are a great example for all their grandchildren on how to love your spouse.
What are you thankful for this week?
