I recently spent a long weekend in New York City visiting two of my very best friends. I’ve come up with this list from the help of my friend who lives there of fun things to do in NYC. Many of these things are cheap or even free.
Fun Things to Do in NYC
Take the Staten Island ferry (for free) to see a great view of the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Walk the Brooklyn Bridge.
Take a stroll through Central Park. You can rent a row boat there too.
See a Broadway play — if you get there early and wait in line, you can get rush tickets usually (much cheaper).
Go to the top of the Empire State Building (expensive).
Visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and St. Paul’s Chapel.
Go to the taping of The Today Show or Good Morning America (or both!).
Have dessert at Serendipity.
Stand in the stand-by line to get tickets for the Jimmy Fallon Show.
Visit Chinatown for all the great cheap souvenirs you could ever want.
Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. (Many don’t realize the admission price is completely suggested — you can actually pay whatever you want to get in. I paid $1!)
Have dinner in Little Italy for some of the best pasta.
Walk through Times Square. Be sure to visit the M&M store and Toys R Us.
People watch in Washington Square Park.
Try the cheesecake at Junior’s.
Visit Battery Park and see the bull on Wall Street.
There are about a million things to do in New York City, and these are just some of the major things that you should check out.
Have you been to NYC? What would you add to this list?
