Twin Beach Gender Reveal Party

December 11, 2018 by Tiffany

Welcome to Seeing Sunshine! I'm so glad you've stopped by! Make sure you never miss a post by subscribing via email. This post may contain affiliate links, so be sure to view my disclosure policy.

My sister-in-law is pregnant with twins and will be having them sometime in the next two months. We are all so excited for them! When I found out that she would be finding out the genders right around the time we would all be doing our family vacation in Florida, I kind of begged her to do a gender reveal party on the beach. In fact, I offered to plan the whole thing. Thankfully, she agreed to it! With the help of our other family members, we all threw a fantastic beach gender reveal party for twins!

Beach Gender Reveal Details

I came up with a few gender reveal options for the expecting couple to choose from. I think we are all really glad they chose what they did.

The Reveal

We took a large canvas and taped two paint colored balloons to the top of it. Mama and Daddy each got to throw a dart and pop the balloon to reveal the color and therefore gender of each twin.

Items Needed:

  • One large canvas
  • One small easel for the canvas to stand on
  • Two bottlesĀ of paint
  • Two black balloons
  • Painter’s tape
  • Darts
  • Plastic cups
  • Funnel

I was so nervous getting this all ready for the big party. There was so much pressure to do it right and make sure I didn’t get any paint on me in the process. Plus, I then had to carry the canvas and balloons down the beach without letting them pop while I waited for everyone to get there. It was stressful! I was glad we practiced this at home beforehand so I knew exactly what to do.

Start by putting quite a bit of paint into a plastic cup. Add a little water and mix it up. This thins out the paint a little so it will splash more on the canvas. Do this with both sets of paint. You can do two shades of blue/green, two shades of pink/red/purple, or one of each color.

Then blow up a balloon — you want it to be pretty aired up. Stick a funnel inside and pour the paint into the balloon. Quickly tie the balloon end. Do this with the second balloon. Carefully tape the tied ends of the balloons to the top of the blank canvas. The people throwing the darts will have to be fairly close to the canvas. The darts can put holes into the canvas, so just be aware of that.

My sister-in-law and brother-in-law already have a little boy. So when they popped the blue balloon first, it made the second one, which was pink, even more exciting! Everyone was cheering and so excited! Hugs all around and dozens of photos. The best part is the couple can keep the canvas and hang it up in the nursery or somewhere else.

Beach Gender Reveal Party Food

I’m so thankful everyone was willing to help when it came to food! I thought what we made turned out so cute! Everyone really enjoyed it.

Beach Decorations

Since we were staying at a condo in Florida, the condo was already decorated with a beach-theme. That made this part of the party pretty easy. We got beach ball garlandĀ to hang on the ceiling (you could make your own using these), and then we made a streamer wall with flower garlands for a photo backdrop. Unfortunately, I don’t think I got any photos of the decor. At this point, we had found out there was a hurricane headed for us and everyone was pretty busy discussing whether to evacuate or not!

Other Fun Party Ideas

I had everyone wear either a pink or blue or both lei around their necks right before the big reveal. It was fun to let everyone take their guesses.

We also found a cute beach-looking jar and asked everyone to write name suggestions and place them inside. We thought this would be fun for everyone to hear and the jar made a great keepsake for the couple.

We also did one more special keepsake. We found some boxes that looked like small treasure chests. We bought two of them and asked everyone to write notes of encouragement for the parents and put them inside. One box was for notes for the mom and one box was for notes for the dad. Then we said that the twins could each have a box of their own to keep.

In case you don’t know, the twins are one boy and one girl, and we all did end up evacuating Florida. So we are very glad we did this party early in the week so we didn’t miss it!

Are you planning a beach gender reveal? Is it actually going to be on the beach? I would love to hear about it in the comments!
