I sat down with a woman I like to call "Grandma" this week. She's been married for 52 years, and for the last 12 years she and my grandpa have been marriage counselors -- it's safe to say she knows a thing or two about marriage. And she definitely knows about making your marriage last. She agreed to share with me -- and my readers (that's you!) -- eight tips for making your marriage last. 1. Be Equally Yoked This is something you can make sure you do to make your marriage last before you even get married. Make sure the person you choose as your spouse is someone who has the same Continue Reading
Living Room Reveal
My house is slowly coming along. In four months, I've completed three rooms. That's not too bad considering one of those months was spent in Korea. The latest room to be completed is the living room. There wasn't a lot to be done in this room. Here are the before photos. First, we ripped up the green carpet to reveal beautiful hardwood floors underneath. We added our furniture and wall decor. We took down the old curtains and added new blinds for privacy. I also added new curtains to the big picture window for decoration. I didn't think I would like so much wood and brown Continue Reading
Currently {Vol. 13}
Here's what I've been up to currently ... Thinking about: How grown up we all are. By we, I mean my friends and me. My best friend from high school just got married over the weekend. I was her matron of honor, and the wedding was beautiful and special and everything I would hope for her. It's so crazy, though, that we are both married now. There were lots of emotional moments throughout the weekend. I'm just so very thankful that we've stayed close even after all these years. And I'm so happy that she's found such a great guy. Now that I've found such a wonderful man and have experienced Continue Reading
Tips for a Non-DITY PCS
If you are an avid reader of this blog, then you know we recently experienced our first non-DITY PCS. We were in Georgia, but had the Army move Travis' things to Korea and my things to Indiana. I was so nervous about how it would all go, but thankfully it went smoothly. We learned a lot in our first PCS, and I wanted to share those things with anyone else who may have just gotten orders. Today, I'm sharing tips for a non-DITY PCS over at Jo, My Gosh. Head over to her blog to see my PCS advice, and be sure to read some of her other posts as well. She has some great tips and resources for Continue Reading
Things to Do in Panama City Beach
Panama City Beach is one of my favorite places to vacation. I just finished my fourth trip there, and I know there are many more trips to come in my future. Travis' parents have been visiting PCB, Florida, for years and years. They couldn't even tell me how many years they've been there. It's become tradition for his family to get together there every year. With their help, I've made this list of things to do in Panama City Beach, as well as a list of great restaurants to try during your visit. Trying new restaurants is one my favorite parts of going on vacation! Things to Do in PCB Go Continue Reading
Florida Vacation 2015
Every year, Travis' family heads to Panama City Beach for a vacation full of sunshine, sunscreen, and sand. I am so grateful that I get to be a part of this tradition. Even this year, when Travis couldn't come, they still welcomed me into their family vacation. I spent two weeks in Florida. Getting a tan. Building sandcastles. Helping kids swim. Eating way too much food. Playing games. Beating records in paddle ball. Laughing. Going for walks. Playing video games. Crab hunting in the sand. Painting little toenails. Watching sunsets. Wearing sunscreen. Making memories. This is a Continue Reading
Places to Go & Things to Do in Indiana
As I've been traveling the past couple years, I've really enjoyed writing posts about my travels. One of my most popular posts has been Best Places to Visit in Savannah. Then I realized, why not write a post about all the awesome things that are right here in my own state? I've lived in Indiana for close to 24 years, so I've seen lots of areas and done lots of neat things. I asked my fellow Hoosiers to let me know what their favorite parts of Indiana are too. Together, we've got a great list of places to see and things to do when visiting Indiana. And if you live here like me, this list Continue Reading
Bucket List Recap 2015
Back in 2013, I wrote a post about my bucket list. I shared with you 15 things I wanted to do in my lifetime, and eight of them had already been crossed off. Today, I'm recapping. I'm sharing my bucket list again. But now, two years later more items have been added, as well as more items have been marked off! I tried to get as many photos as I could to go with the ones I've marked off. 1. Go to a Colts Game As a Christmas present in 2012, my aunt and uncle bought tickets to a Colts game for me, my brother and our three cousins. We all got to go together to see our favorite football team Continue Reading
How To Handle a Disagreement
Today is our anniversary. Travis and I have been married for two years. It feels like it's been longer than that to me. In our two years of marriage, we've already learned a lot about each other and ourselves. Travis and I really don't fight -- at least yet -- but we have had a few disagreements. Just two months ago, we had our biggest disagreement. I am really proud of us for how we handled this disagreement and worked through it. Every single married couple has disagreements. There's really no way around it. But there are ways to handle disagreements in a healthy way. I've asked some Continue Reading
Baseball Themed Care Package
Travis and I are celebrating our second wedding anniversary this month. Of course, we are celebrating while being 7,000 miles apart, which can make it a little tricky. This year, I wanted to put my care package skills to the test and create something awesome for Travis to open as an anniversary gift. My husband loves baseball. He's played the game since he was a kid, and he loves to watch it too. He's on a post-wide softball team in Korea, and I have no doubt that someday he will be a baseball coach for our own children. So a baseball themed care package was a perfect fit for my man. I Continue Reading

I've compiled this list of the best summer picnic supplies, so you can be sure your family picnics are the best they can be. These are also great gift ideas, especially for someone getting married. The Guy Behind the Blog: Episode 1
I've been seeing other bloggers get involved in this series called The Guys Behind the Blog created by Betsy at Heavens to Betsy. This monthly series gives the guy behind the blog a chance to answer five questions so we all can get to know them better. I decided I wanted to join in on this series, which is also a monthly link-up, for two reasons. First, my husband Travis is so supportive of this blog it's a little ridiculous. He is always encouraging me to keep going and keep improving it. I think he believes in this space more than me at times. Second, this will be a great way to get Continue Reading
