Lots of changes have been happening. So it's time for a Currently post, where I let you know what I'm up to currently! Thinking about: Why in the world did I move to Indiana? I hate winter. I don't like cold or snow, and that's all we've had since I arrived here. Freezing temperatures, snow galore, getting my car stuck several times, having a sore throat, having dry skin -- what did I sign up for? I got spoiled in Georgia, and now I really miss those warm temps and bright sun rays. But in all reality, I am really glad to be close to family again. And the snow is pretty. Sorta. From Carpet to Hardwood
So we bought a new house. New to us at least. The house is actually more than 100 years old. It was built in 1903 according to the records. So needless to say, this old house needs quite a few updates. One of the main things I wanted to change was the carpet. It was green. I don't like the color green. And I especially didn't like this green. It was sort of a pea green. We pulled up a corner of the carpet to see what was underneath. To our delight, there were the original hardwood floors. We weren't sure what condition they were in, but we decided we wanted the carpet up Continue Reading
Warm Winter Punch
Living in Georgia, Travis and I never really experienced winter. And it was great. I'd much rather be on the beach or going for a walk in the sunshine. But now we have moved. Indiana is much different than Georgia. As soon we got here, the snow started coming down. Huge flakes were falling as we moved our furniture in to our new house. And the temperatures have been freezing. As much as I hate the winter, having warm comfort foods makes it all so much better. This warm winter punch is comforting and great for drinking while the snow is falling. Here's what you'll Continue Reading
5 Tips for Caring for Your Curls
Let's talk hair. I have naturally curly hair, and I love it. I get more compliments on my hair than anything else, and my husband loves my curls. But as a young teenager, my hair did not look good. If you wish you loved your hair more, I hope this post will give you ideas for taking better care of your curls. 1. Use a Wet Brush I got this for Christmas one year and it has changed my life! Big Announcement
I have been waiting to share this with ya'll for months and months. I thought I would be able to tell you in the fall, but everything kept getting delayed ... until now. Travis and I are officially land and home owners. We have been in the midst of trying to buy property for what feels like ages but is actually more like 6 months. But this week we signed the final papers and it's official. How many of you thought this announcement was something else? Mmmhmm, tricked ya! It all started when the property next to my parents' house became available for purchase. Travis and I jumped at Continue Reading
5 Encouraging Instagram Accounts
Instagram is one of my all-time favorite social media platforms. I love seeing the words put to photos, and I love sharing with others. I especially love following accounts that bring me encouragement and remind me to see the sunshine. Those accounts lift me up like a giant hot air balloon, and sometimes in life we really need something to lift us -- even if it's just a few special words connected to a beautiful photo. I wanted to share those accounts with you, so you can follow along too. Here we go! She Reads Truth -- An online community of women who study God's Word together Continue Reading
How to Fry Fish
My husband loves deep sea fishing. He and his dad try to go together every year. They bring home a whole lot of fish to freeze and eat all throughout the year. Travis is always the one who makes fish for dinner because he's just the best at it. I decided it was time for him to share his secrets with ya'll! Here's what you'll need: Fish filets - we used Red Snapper, but you can use any type of fish, fresh or frozen (be sure it's thawed) Old Bay Seasoning Fish Rub Seasoning Whole Wheat Flour Vegetable Oil Coconut Oil Travis starts by adding the two seasonings to the fish filets, Continue Reading
South Korea PCS Packing List
If you follow my blog, you know my husband will be boarding a plane for South Korea in the next couple weeks. That means we have been packing like crazy. I have been so thankful for any resource we can find about what to bring and what is provided and how an international PCS even works. I've been trying to read up on all the information I can get, but I do wish there was more. Because of that, I'm writing this post for anyone else who is preparing for a move to South Korea. Your destination, housing, or packing list might not be exactly the same, but I hope this gives you a better idea Continue Reading
Currently {Vol. 10}
Things have gotten crazy around here so I wanted to let ya'll know what's been going on currently... Thinking about: How I just want to get this move over with, and yet I want every single second with my husband to slow down. Very conflicting feelings going on over here! I'm wanting to cherish and savor every moment with my husband since I know my time with him is short and soon we'll be saying goodbye at the airport. But at the same time, my house looks like it got tossed in a tornado and we're running out of food. I'm just ready to get this show on the road -- for the movers to come so we Continue Reading
Top MilSpouse Bloggers You Should Follow on Pinterest
With my husband moving to South Korea soon, I have found myself feeling more like a true Army wife than ever before. Because of that, I have been eating up all the military-inspired blogs I can get. I'm so thankful that in this next year of challenges and adventures, as well as right now during our first PCS, I can look to so many of the beautiful military wives who have gone before me. Most of whom are still in the midst of it themselves. There is just something about knowing you aren't alone. Knowing others are feeling what you are feeling. Being in community. I'm grateful that I Continue Reading

One of my favorite hobbies is reading. I love laying on my bed listening to the rain pound the windows while I take in the words of some great author. I love laying out by the pool, soaking in the rays and turning the pages of some great book. I like reading at the gym while I ride the bicycle machine. I like reading under trees. I like reading on park benches. My bookshelves are packed full, and yet I want more books.
