One of the biggest parts of planning a wedding is deciding what everyone will wear. It can be one of the most fun parts of the planning or one of the most stressful. It was fun for me. Especially shopping for my wedding dress! So what did we decide on? My bridesmaids wore navy blue strapless dresses with bright yellow shoes. We got the dresses and shoes from David's Bridal. I liked how the dresses pulled to the side because it matched my wedding dress. We all carried yellow tulips. I told them they could do their hair however they liked and wear whatever jewelry they wanted. The Continue Reading
Our Wedding Decor & Food
I want to share with ya'll some of the details about my wedding. I've been dying to blog about this topic because who doesn't love to reminisce about their special day? Hopefully this blog will give those of you planning a wedding some new ideas. This post is all about our wedding decor, food, and the little details. Our colors were navy blue and bright yellow. I'd say our style was simple elegance. For the reception, we used white table clothes with curled navy blue ribbon scattered on top. We used mirrors with large vases on top. We filled the vases with lemons for a splash of yellow. We Continue Reading
Baked Grouper
I found a recipe through Pinterest from The Devil's Punchbowl. It was for a baked salmon and had very few ingredients. It looked really good, and I love salmon. While visiting Travis, we decided to try it. He had been deep sea fishing with his dad the week before and brought home tons of fish. We decided to try the recipe with grouper instead of salmon. We didn't think it would make much of a difference, but maybe it did. All we needed was the fish, salt and pepper, a lemon and butter. We sliced up the lemon and placed the slices on a piece of aluminum foil. We set the grouper on top. We Continue Reading
Black Bean Salad
This is one of my favorite recipes. I was so excited to make it for Travis while I visited him in Georgia. I think it's fairly easy to make — just a lot of chopping — and it has a delicious and fresh taste. We use tortilla chips and eat it like a dip or salsa. I think it's healthy too! Protein and veggies. Black Bean Salad Recipe Here's what you'll need: Red peppers Garlic Shallots Sugar Salt Cayenne Pepper Extra Virgin Olive Oil Limes White & Gold Corn Cilantro Black Beans Avocados You can prepare all your ingredients in any order because you are just Continue Reading
Hash Brown Casserole
Comfort food. That's what this recipe is all about. Travis loves cheesy potatoes, so he loves when I make this hash brown casserole. And so do I! I found this recipe on Nancy Creative. The problem was, and I have this problem with most recipes, it was a recipe for a whole family. A family of four or five people plus leftovers. Travis and I like to eat, definitely, but I really needed the recipe to be for just two. So I cut the recipe in half to fit our needs. And we still have leftovers! While I was editing these photos, I was getting so hungry. Just looking at it makes my mouth Continue Reading
More Bridal Shower Ideas
After we looked at the decorations, ate the delicious food and played some really fun games, which you read about in my first post, we did my favorite part of the whole shower. My hosts had asked each of the guests to bring an item that represented either a memory they had with me or of advice they wanted to give me. I didn't know anything about the shower before arriving, so I didn't know they had brought these items. Each woman stood up, displaying her item and telling me about a memory they had with me or a piece of advice they wanted to share. Each of these moments was so special. Some Continue Reading

Triple Mint Marshmallow Oreo Brownies
Sometimes I just get in the mood to cook/bake. I say sometimes, because other times I'm in the exact opposite mood. I'd rather do anything than cook or bake. But when you get something like Oreo brownies, I'm all about whatever it takes to make them so I can eat them! When I am in that in-the-kitchen-housewife-wearing-an-apron-kind-of-mood, I really like trying new recipes that I find on Pinterest. And I enjoy sharing the final product with friends, family and co-workers. And I think they enjoy it too! How delicious does that look?! Last summer, I tried what I'm calling Triple Mint Continue Reading
A Blessing
Remember when I wrote that post about my friend Ricci? How she is going on a journey around the world to spread the love of God? And remember how I asked you if you would consider financially supporting her? Well, Ricci had a total of $15,500 she needed to raise for this trip to 11 countries in 11 months. She had raised a total of $3,500 in order to meet her first deadline. Ricci was planning different fundraisers such as selling T-shirts or having a dinner with a raffle. She also wanted to speak at my mom's church, where I grew up going. This past weekend, she came and spent the weekend Continue Reading
Journey Around the World
How many countries have you visited? I've visited two countries outside of the U.S. -- Jamaica and Costa Rica. I will visit St. Lucia this summer. That's a total of three countries. That's nothing. Not compared to my friend who will be traveling to 11 -- count it -- 11 countries starting in July. And she will be doing it in just 11 months. Awesome, right? Well, there is more awesomeness. Ricci, that's my friend's name ... she isn't just going to those countries to sit on a beach or eat exotic food. Ricci will be visiting those 11 countries to spread God's Word, witness to others and Continue Reading
Ways to Choose Joy
Lately, I feel like I have been Miss Crabbypants. I don’t know if it’s the weather or work or missing Travis or what but I have been in a bad mood a lot. I’ve been complaining and whining and just being negative like it’s my job. Basically, I’ve been focusing on the clouds instead of the sunshine. I could make lists of reasons why I deserve to be in a bad mood. When instead I should have been making lists of why I need to be grateful, why I should be happy, and how blessed I am. How about you? Do you get in those ruts? The ones where all you can see is the bad stuff? Do you make lists in Continue Reading
