The other night, I was really feeling the need for some TobyMac music. I found his latest CD in my car and started to jam. Then the song "Steal My Show" came on. I had heard the song tons of times when I first bought the CD and listened to it over and over to learn every lyric. As I listened this time, I felt the need to share it. In "Steal My Show," TobyMac talks about how he's about to perform at a concert. He says what the concert really needs is God — more than himself, lights, smoke, or even rocking music. In the song, he asks God to steal his show. He says to God, "If you have Continue Reading
Intermission: Wondering Where God Is
In high school, I was in three different plays. It was so much fun! I've also attended quite a few plays in my life. I really enjoy a funny play or a musical with lots of dancing. Have you ever been to a play? Or maybe you've been part of the cast of a play like I was? Almost all plays have Act I, Act II, Act III, and so on depending on how long the play is. And with more than one act, every play has an intermission. Intermission: (n) A recess between parts of a performance or production, such as for a theatrical play, opera, concert or film screening. For those attending a Continue Reading
Bucket List
About two years ago, I created a bucket list for myself of things I want to do before I die. I'm sure that things will be added to it as I discover new adventures to be had and mark off the items I've completed. So far I've marked off several of the items. So I wanted to share my bucket list with you all. 1. Go to a Colts Game As a Christmas present this past year, my aunt and uncle bought tickets to a Colts game for me, my brother and our three cousins. We all got to go together to see our favorite football team win on their home field. It was awesome being inside Lucas Oil Stadium, Continue Reading
Holiday Update — 2012
If you don't want to hear about my holidays, ya better just exit out of this tab now because all this blog is is an update on my holidays. Hence the name of the post... I figured I better catch you all up since I was MIA for more than a month. Christmastime equals busy time. I think it's that way for everyone, so maybe you didn't even have time to read my blogs if I had wrote some. Yeah, let's go with that. I didn't write in order to give you a break during your busy busy schedule. You're welcome. :) Here's my Christmas tree with all the presents to give underneath. All my Christmas tree Continue Reading
Word of the Year: 2013
For the past couple years, I have been choosing a word to represent my new year rather than making resolutions. Last year, I chose the word "purpose" for 2012. I wanted to put purpose into everything I did. Now looking back on 2012, I believe my word was actually "healing." I spent most of that year being healed by God, having my heart mended. And once I was healed, I received great restoration and joy. For 2013, I've pondered over several words such as change, adventure, joy and journey. All of which seem to describe what 2013 will probably be filled with. But I decided not to go with any Continue Reading
The Proposal Story
For those of you who don't know, I am engaged. Talk about sunshine! Travis and I have talked about marriage many times, but I had no idea he'd propose so soon. It's safe to say I was in complete shock the entire time. So for everyone who is dying to hear the proposal story -- here ya go! Proposal Story: How He Popped the Question While the rest of you were out shopping your tail bones off and snatching up awesome deals on Black Friday, I was at work. Travis came that evening to take me out to eat. We went to a Mexican restaurant -- my choice. Then we went to a Christmas parade there in Continue Reading
Sunshine Part 4
I have seen sunshine a ton lately. And that makes me really happy. Here are some of those ways: Eating salmon -- I love salmon because not only does it taste good, but it is really good for you! The biggest piece of chocolate cake ever!! I ate it over a period of three days. A day full of shopping, laughing, good food, talking and ice cream with my mom. It was so fun!! Getting to spend almost four whole days with Travis, thanks to Veterans Day. New boots! New socks long enough to go under my boots! Buying greeting cards for special people in my life. Making French toast on a Continue Reading
Big: Taking God Out of His Box
Who used to watch Veggie Tales? Does anyone remember this song: "God is bigger than the boogie man. He's bigger than Godzilla or the monsters on TV. Oh, God is bigger than the boogie man, and He's watching out for you and me." I sure remember that song. It immediately came to mind when I sat down to write this post. And it is completely true. God is BIG. I think we — pretty much all the time — underestimate God. We have no idea how big He is. We don't comprehend His love, forgiveness, power, mercy, jealousy, knowledge, compassion, ... the list can go on and on to include every one Continue Reading
Mind-Blowin’ Love
Now that I'm in a relationship, I promise not to post a million blogs about being in said relationship. However, this one is going to be about that a little bit. What can I say -- I'm in love. Having Travis back in my life is weird. Not a bad weird. But an I-can't-believe-this-is-real weird. Sometimes, while driving or laying in bed or getting ready for work I start to think about how crazy it is that Travis loves me. Sometimes it feels mind-blowing to know how much he loves me and cares about me. And I think about all the things I don't even like about myself — my pointy ears, my Continue Reading
Why We Should Stop Comparing Numbers
Recently, I have been noticing numbers. The numbers related to other bloggers out there. One blog I read has more than 800 Facebook fans, one gets more than 800,000 views each day and another has more than 1,200 email subscriptions. Those are fantastic numbers, and I'm really glad those blogs are all doing so well. But I would be lying if I said it wasn't discouraging. I look at my own numbers and feel, well, a little bit like a failure. Not all the time, but sometimes when comparing I just get disappointed, wishing my blog could reach more people or that I could know people enjoy reading my Continue Reading
The Beginning of Our Love Story
I'm writing this post because this blog is a place for me to share my joys and sorrows. I want you to know my love story, which includes both joy and sorrow. I hope this story helps you see some sunshine. The Love Story Begins A love story started quite some time ago. Some of you know most of the story, some of you know parts of the story and some of you know none of it. It's a long story, so I'm not sure what all to share. But let's focus on the most recent parts, and I'll try to quickly summarize the rest. I fell in love with a guy while I was in college, and he fell in love with Continue Reading
Words of Encouragement
The past year has been rough for me. For those of you who don't know, I went through a break up. The beginning of the year was spent grieving the loss of the love of my life, his wonderful family, and all my dreams for our future. It really was a loss, because I handle break ups by pretending that person doesn't exist — completely exiling them from my life. It's a defense mechanism I use. It's the only way I know how to diminish the pain — even if it's just a little bit. I kept praying for God to make my feelings for him fade, but it was a prayer God never answered. I prayed for healing, Continue Reading
