This year has been one crazy thing (usually bad) after another, so when my grandparents offered to let us use their timeshare points for a little getaway we didn't have to think twice. We took them up on their offer and began checking out our options. We knew we wanted to go somewhere we've never been before. We love going to the beach, but since our trip was going to be in November, it seemed going to the north east coast might be a fun option -- think of all the fall leaves! That's what led us to choose Newport, Rhode Island. Today, I'm sharing all about our trip! Let me start by saying Continue Reading
Reflections on Turning 30
Well, it's here. The big 3-0. Yes, this month I turn 30 years old. In a way it seems unreal, and then I think about it and realize that's about right. Yep, I'm turning 30, and it's got me thinking of some reflections. Last year, I attended a weekend getaway with a friend who was turning 30. Several girls got together to celebrate my friend, and it was such a wonderful time out in the mountains of Tennessee. One night, as we basked in the heat of the hot tub on our cabin porch, one friend asked the birthday girl some really reflective questions. I loved it! I love stuff like that -- really Continue Reading
The Best Spots in Clarksville, Tennessee
When we found out we would be PCSing to Fort Campbell and living in Clarksville, Tennessee, I was excited because it would be fairly close to Indiana. (Four hour drive from my family) What I didn't realize, though, is how much I would love the Clarksville area. We lived there for almost two years, and now that we recently moved I've been thinking back to all the neat spots that I loved in that city. For those out there who are PCSing to Fort Campbell or maybe already live in Clarksville, I wanted to share those favorite spots. About a week before we moved, a friend took me a park that was Continue Reading
Things to Do in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg
It's been several months since we took our family trip to the other side of Tennessee. I just haven't gotten around to sharing about it! In the fall, we drove to Pigeon Forge and spent a few days having all kinds of fun. There is so much to do there, but we made the most of the little time we had. Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg Activities Ripley's Aquarium We loved this aquarium! I didn't think it would be that neat -- I mean a bunch of fish, who cares? But it was probably our favorite part of the whole trip! They had tons of fish and sea life to look at, not to mention penguins! My favorite part Continue Reading
Life Lately: Looking Ahead
It has been awhile since I've wrote a "Life Lately" post where I update you on what's going on with our little family of now three. My last post, which you can read here, was all about selling the farmhouse in Indiana. Since then, we've been enjoying life here in Tennessee. We have made lots of friends, found a good church, and we love being able to go back to Indiana to see family basically whenever we want. Things are about to change though. And that's why I'm writing this update. Our lives are about to look very different. This is Travis' last week working in his battalion. Soon, he Continue Reading
Taking Baby to the Beach: Two Items You Need
Like I said in my post about flying with a baby, Raylee had her first trip to Florida recently. That means she also had her first visit to the beach. Just like I was nervous about the airplane ride, I was also nervous about the beach visit. Taking baby to the beach seemed a little overwhelming. I imagined us carrying a thousand items out there and coming back covered in sand. I wasn't sure it would be all that fun. But thankfully, it was a success! Raylee loved the beach. She loved feeling the sand in her hands, and she only tried to eat it once. It was very fun getting to watch her examine Continue Reading

5 Things I Learned from Moving Back in with My Parents
I'm so thankful that so many amazing bloggers have been willing to guest post for me this month while I'm on "maternity leave." Today, we have Lindsay from Uplifting Anchor. She talks about how moving back in with her parents while her husband was deployed taught her many things. Be sure to go check out her website after you read this because I love the theme behind it! I’m 30 years old and this past year I moved back in with my parents. That statement used to feel strange, defeated, and wrong on many levels, but not anymore. I am a military spouse, and I moved back in with my folks Continue Reading
Life Lately: Changed Plans
If there's one thing I know about life, it's that it is full of change. And if there is one thing to know about Army life, it's that it's full of even more change! Just remember last year when we thought we were moving to New York, then we thought we were staying in Missouri, and finally we found out we were actually moving to Tennessee (all in a matter of five months) -- that was a lot of change! Well, some other things have changed too, and I'm here to update ya'll. Remember in 2015 when we became land owners? Check out this post with the big announcement. In that post, I talked about how Continue Reading
Things to Do in Seattle
Our last stop on our road trip up the west coast was to Seattle, Washington. I had never been to this state before, so I'm excited I got to mark it off my bucket list! Seattle was rainy, dreary, and cold just as we expected. But despite the weather, we really enjoyed our day in this city. Seattle Must-Sees Space Needle Our first stop was the Space Needle, of course. It's what Seattle is known for! We got combo tickets for the Space Needle and the glass museum so that we could get a discount since we knew we were going to both. We also recommend finding parking on the street or even a nearby Continue Reading
3 Places to Visit in Oregon
On our west coast road trip, we went all the way up the coast of California and entered Oregon. I had only been to Oregon just to cross the state line and say I'd been there. Travis had never been there at all. We were both excited to see what this state had to offer. We weren't able to spend a lot of time in Oregon, but we saw there main spots that were beautiful. If you go to Oregon, I highly recommend visiting these three places! Must-Sees in Oregon Multnomah Falls This was probably our favorite spot in Oregon. A friend who is originally from Oregon recommended we go see it, and I'm so Continue Reading
West Coast Road Trip
As you all know, Travis and I took a baby moon vacation together recently. We flew into San Diego, rented a car, and drove all the way up the coast visiting tons of cities and beautiful scenery. It was an awesome west coast road trip -- something we've always wanted to do together. It seemed like the perfect trip to celebrate "just the two of us" before welcoming our little girl next year. During our west coast road trip, we visited these cities: San Diego Los Angeles Santa Barbara San Francisco Portland Seattle And probably a lot more along the way! You can read Continue Reading
