This post contains affiliate links. Thanks for supporting my blog. The Christmas season is fully upon us! We have the house decorated, I've made Christmas cookies, and the Christmas cards are in the mail! Now, to just finish the Christmas shopping. This year we decorated our tree with even more ornaments than last year. Now, we have ornaments from our cruise, our Disney World vacation, our trip to Sea World, and the ones we got for Christmas last year. Our tree is looking a little more full, although we still used a few dollar store ornaments to finish it off. By next year, we probably Continue Reading
Christmas Wish List 2014
I am very excited for Christmas this year. Cookies, hot chocolate, twinkling lights, board games with family, shopping with my mom, and oh yeah -- presents! I love giving gifts and I love receiving gifts. And I ain't afraid to say so! As I've done with every season this year, I'm sharing with you my wish list. But this one is even better because some folks (aka my husband!) will actually be giving me some of these gifts. Thanks Christmas! (This post contains affiliate links. Thanks for supporting my blog.) 1. Citrus Zester. I want one so that it's easier to zest my citrus. Enough Continue Reading
Exploring the Western Caribbean
I told you last week about our time on the Carnival Sunshine cruise ship, but I didn't tell you about our destinations and our adventures. Our first stop was Cozumel, Mexico. We walked around the little shops at the port, trying not to make contact with the Mexicans nagging us to come in their shops. "Free Tequila shots!" one yelled from a jewelry store. After purchasing a few post cards, we went to meet our group for our excursion. We booked a dolphin excursion with Carnival. We were able to get in the water with dolphins. The dolphin kissed our cheeks. We were able to give the Continue Reading
Seeing Sunshine on the Sunshine
I told you my husband and I were going "unplugged" for a week on my Facebook page. We unplugged because we were going to be out in the middle of the ocean. And we'd be too busy snorkeling, kissing dolphins, eating lobster tail and drinking coconut milk straight from the coconut. We went on a Western Caribbean cruise on-board the Carnival Sunshine. And it was awesome. And it was awesome that the ship just happened to be called Sunshine. Believe me, I was seeing all the sunshine during this vacation! The ship was huge, as I knew it would be. We stayed on Deck 8 in an inside cabin, Continue Reading
Ways to Sleep Better + A Bedtime Prayer
When my husband was gone for a month of training, I spent a lot of time with family in other states. But the days I did spend at home alone, I had the hardest time sleeping. It wasn't just that I missed my husband laying next to me, it was also the fear of having no one to protect me. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever felt so much fear before -- which was silly because I was safe in my locked house. I honestly believe Satan was throwing his flaming arrows toward me (Ephesians 6:16) to prevent me from receiving God's peace and getting a good night's sleep. Fortunately, I had many ways to help me Continue Reading
Save the Date: It’s Party Time!
Guess what ya’ll! Something new and exciting is about to happen at Seeing Sunshine. Bust out the confetti! I’m throwing a party! A Facebook party! Yes, put on your party hats! What’s a Facebook party? It’s where all you party animals get into your comfy pj’s, grab a snack (I recommend something sweet) and join me on your computers to interact with each other and win some prizes. That’s my kind of party! The party will be Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. EST. That’s the first day of fall! Yes, we are celebrating my favorite season! If you are still not too sure what I’m talking about, let me Continue Reading
Keeping Busy
As I told you before, I went to Indiana at the beginning of August to spend time with family while my husband is gone for training. I was determined to keep busy so I wouldn't get lonely. The first part of my trip was all about my sister-in-law's wedding, but I also got to spend a lot of time hanging out with Travis' family. Then, I headed south to my own family. And boy, did I keep busy! First, we had my cousin-to-be's bridal shower. I was so, so grateful I was able to attend! Everyone did a great job decorating and planning games and food. I loved the idea of having everyone highlight Continue Reading
No +1 = Helper
Kind of a strange title for this post... if you don't get it, you probably will after reading the whole post. :) I went back to Indiana at the beginning of August. I decided to visit family while Travis was gone for a month, but the biggest reason I went back to the Hoosier state was to attend my sister-in-law's wedding. As soon as I arrived, I went north to see Travis' family. I thought it might be strange going there without my husband, but actually I felt really comfortable. I guess they really are my family now. There was lots of wedding prep -- decorating the church, decorating for Continue Reading
Just a Little Something
My husband left about two weeks ago for NTC (the National Training Center) in California. He'll be gone for a month. I wanted to do something for him so he would feel my love even weeks into his training, especially when we couldn't have any contact. It's nothing special -- just a little something. So I bought a few treats for him to take and included little notes with each one. I bought him some of his favorite candy -- Sour Patch Kids, Sour Gummy Worms and Mamba Chews -- a package of Golden Oreos, his favorite Kind bars and some new Kind bars he hasn't had before. For each of Continue Reading
Thankful Thursday 0617
Good morning friends! (or afternoon or evening - whenever you are reading this!) How has your week been? Stressful? Crazy? Overwhelming? If any of those are true, and even if they aren't ... we should be spending time in thankfulness -- being grateful for all our blessings. Have you been seeing the sunshine this week? It's all around. God leaves little love notes for us all the time. It's just a matter of opening our eyes (and our hearts) to see them. Here's what I'm thankful for this Thursday: 1. I am thankful for my possessions. I know - "What? She didn't say her family or God Continue Reading
Currently {Vol. 1}
Currently -- a new post series I'm starting where I share what I'm currently up to. A Mama Collective started this "currently" idea and hosts a link up so everyone can share their currently posts. I found out about it when Bree started sharing what she's currently up to. I loved reading her posts, so I decided I wanted to join in! Here's what I've been up to currently... Thinking about: How incredibly scary that new water slide in Missouri looks. Have you seen this thing? It's higher than the statue of liberty people! And did I mention my husband wants to go on it? What a nut! Reading: I Continue Reading
Summer Wish List
Remember when I shared my Spring Wish List? Well, guess what! It's summer! That means I can share another wish list! Here's what I'd love to have for the heat-filled southern summer. (Photo Credits: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) 1. I have fallen in love with these headbands from Mint and Arrows. I would love a few to wrap around my head with a messy bun - easy to fix and great for those really hot days. She has so many cute fabrics to choose from, and I think they are a great price too. 2. The One Trip Grip grocery bag holder, if it really works, would be great to have this summer. It's Continue Reading
