So I was just craving chocolate one day and came up with this recipe. It was my dream -- a chocolate dream filled with heavenly flavors. This dessert is basically like dirt pudding minus the cream cheese with the added surprise of brownies! You heard me right! Who wants to go to chocolate heaven with me? Here's what you'll need: Oreos (1 whole package!) Chocolate pudding (mix + 3 cups of milk) Brownie mix (mix + eggs + water + oil) Whipped cream (sugar + heavy whipping cream) Crush all the Oreos in a large Ziplock bag. Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray. Layer 2/3 of the crushed Continue Reading
Wassel
My mom and dad used to have a big fall party every year at their house. We would roast hot dogs and marshmallows, sitting on hay bales around a bonfire. We'd play volleyball before it got dark, and once the sun set we would go on a hayride. My mom always made wassel -- a warm drink that I couldn't get enough of. Wassel is delicious when the weather starts to get cold. Right now, it is freezing in Indiana so wassel is the perfect beverage. I made it for the first time for Travis while he was home visiting, and I made it for his family too. Everybody enjoyed it. Wassel is often served with Continue Reading
Cinnamon Sugar Pecans
I decided to give these little treats a try. After I finished them, my mom was so excited because her grandmother used to always make them. I took them to my mom'sĀ house and she got out the old antique candy dish our Grandma Thompson used for her cinnamon sugar pecans. I know it warmed my mama's heart to have these treats sitting in that dish. These are yummy! I wanted to share this recipe if not for anyone else at least for my mom. Here's what you'll need: Pecan halves Egg white Water Vanilla extract Sugar Cinnamon Salt Preheat your oven to 250 degrees and spray a Continue Reading

Orange Angel Bars
Every year, my family gets together to open Christmas presents and do some holiday baking. In fact, this was our 25th year getting together to do this. For the last several years, we've been making orange angel bars -- a yummy treat that is in high demand in our family. I'm pretty sure everyone loves to eat them cold. We usually keep them in the freezer. Here's what you'll need: Angel food cake Butter Orange juice Powdered sugar Graham cracker crumbs Walnuts (or pecans) My grandma makes angel food cakes in 9x13 pans, but you can also just buy them already made. Cut the Continue Reading
Mexican Chili
This recipe is really simple! We loved eating it by dipping tortilla chips in it. It's very thick and hearty, perfect for dipping! First, brown the hamburger with the chopped onion until the meat is brown and the onion is clear. You don't have to drain it as long as your meat was pretty lean. Throw the mixture into your crock pot. Add in the rest of the ingredients. The only one you need to drain is the can of corn and the can of kidney beans. Cook on low for about 3 hours. Serve this dish with shredded cheddar cheese, chopped cilantro, chopped green onions, and/or sour cream for Continue Reading
Enchilada Soup
I think Travis and I have fallen in love ... with this soup! I've already made it twice just this week! Here's what you'll need: Onion Garlic Olive oil Chicken Chicken broth Mild green enchilada sauce Rotel tomatoes with green chilies Knorr Spanish rice Sour cream Cumin Cheddar cheese (optional) Cilantro (optional, but not really because it's so amazing with this added!) I know that sounds like a lot of ingredients, but this recipe is pretty simple. I mean, I did make it twice in one week! Start by sauteing the chopped onion in olive oil over medium heat while stirring. It Continue Reading
Sugar Cream Pie
Sugar Cream Pie. I'd never had it before. In fact, I had never even heard of it! But it is one of my husband's favorite desserts. So of course I had to learn to make it! This recipe is really pretty easy as long as you follow the instructions exactly. It could be difficult to get it the right consistency. Here's what you need: Half and half Butter Sugar Cornstarch Pie crust Vanilla Cinnamon Bake the pie crust. Mix the sugar and cornstarch together. Set aside. On low to medium heat, completely melt the half and half and butter together -- do not let it Continue Reading

Popeye knew what he was doing when he was eating all that spinach! It nourishes our eyes, builds our bones, and helps with our digestive system. Spinach is full of vitamins and minerals. Chicken Salad with Grapes
I never knew I liked chicken salad until one day I had a little of my mother-in-law's while we were taking a road trip. I was hungry and it was my only option, so I tried it. And low and behold it was actually pretty good. This summer, I tried more chicken salad, and again I liked it. And just a couple weeks ago, my mom took me to a local restaurant where she had been going on and on about their chicken salad. I got some and fell in love just like she had. It was delicious! In fact, I went back again another day, all by myself, for more. I wanted to recreate this amazing chicken salad if Continue Reading
