Well, my little girl is now a big girl. I had planned to keep Raylee in her crib for as long as possible. She was doing great with sleeping in it and never tried getting out. Why mess with something that's working, right? Well, we did it. The toddler bed transition ended up happening, a lot sooner than I had expected too. Once we found out we were having another girl, I decided I wanted the white crib for the new baby. Travis was already itching to get Raylee moved to a big girl bed since he does the bedtime routine and wanted to be able to lay down and cuddle with her before saying "night Continue Reading
Kentucky Rainbow House: One Year Update
It has officially been one year since we moved here to Louisville. We closed on this house in March of 2018 and moved in that April. Moving is always a hard task, but little did we realize that the real work would begin after we were moved in! I lovingly call this house the rainbow house because when we moved in every room was painted a different color of the rainbow. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all open concept but each one was painted green, yellow, and orange. The guest room was a Pepto-Bismol pink. Raylee's room was bright orange. The master bedroom was blue. Downstairs Continue Reading
2nd Bee-Day Party
Raylee is turning two this month, and I can't believe it. I had originally decided we would do a very small, simple party for her. But then we found out we were expecting and we would have the gender ultrasound just days before her party. Not to mention, we just love both our families (big families) and we wanted a chance for them all to see our new house, especially after we had completed so many projects. So we went big! I decided to do a bee theme and host a bee-day party that doubled as a gender reveal party. We ended up having around 50 people come, so thank goodness we have a pretty big Continue Reading
Baby #2 On The Way
I realized the other day that I haven't actually announced our big news on the blog yet. I've announced on my Facebook and Instagram pages, so you've probably seen. But in case you aren't a social media person, but like to read my blog, I didn't want you to miss out on our big news! You may have noticed I had an extra plump belly in the photos of my last post where I shared about my favorite cleaning tools. That would be because I've got baby #2 growing inside there! We found out we were expecting the day before Thanksgiving. We felt we were both ready to have another little one, so we had Continue Reading
Floor Cleaning Tools: My Two Favorites
Spring is right around the corner. I don't know about you, but I'm dying for it to get here! I'm so ready for the warmer temps and blooming flowers. We need some fresh air! Whenever spring time arrives, a lot of us get into cleaning mode! Do you like to spring clean? This year, I've got two new cleaning tools that are going to make cleaning all the floors in our house so much easier! It doesn't matter what kind of floors you have -- these two cleaning tools are the only things you need! Our entire basement is carpet, and the majority of our main floor is hard wood. I use one of these cleaning Continue Reading
Reflections on Turning 30
Well, it's here. The big 3-0. Yes, this month I turn 30 years old. In a way it seems unreal, and then I think about it and realize that's about right. Yep, I'm turning 30, and it's got me thinking of some reflections. Last year, I attended a weekend getaway with a friend who was turning 30. Several girls got together to celebrate my friend, and it was such a wonderful time out in the mountains of Tennessee. One night, as we basked in the heat of the hot tub on our cabin porch, one friend asked the birthday girl some really reflective questions. I loved it! I love stuff like that -- really Continue Reading
2019 Word of the Year
I can hardly believe that another year is about to begin. This past year went really quickly in my eyes, but it seems like they always do. For the last five years or so, I have chosen a word (or once two words!) to represent the upcoming year. Before I reveal my word for 2019, let's recap 2018. 2018 -- Change Change was my word for 2018, and I think it was pretty fitting. There were a lot of changes that took place, especially with Travis. He transitioned out of the Army. He started and finished an internship. He began a brand new, very different job, in the civilian world. He also Continue Reading
Twin Beach Gender Reveal Party
My sister-in-law is pregnant with twins and will be having them sometime in the next two months. We are all so excited for them! When I found out that she would be finding out the genders right around the time we would all be doing our family vacation in Florida, I kind of begged her to do a gender reveal party on the beach. In fact, I offered to plan the whole thing. Thankfully, she agreed to it! With the help of our other family members, we all threw a fantastic beach gender reveal party for twins! Photo by MindyAnna Photography Beach Gender Reveal Details I came up with a few gender Continue Reading
Best Children’s Books for Toddlers
I recently shared my toddler gift ideas, which included some big items and some great learning and creative toys. But one thing that wasn't on that list was books, and that's because I have enough favorite children's books for an entire blog post. If you love to read or you want your child to love to read (who doesn't?), this blog post is for you because these are the best children's books for toddlers. This list includes books we own and love. My daughter, Raylee loves books right now and will read them over and over. She loves when we read to her, but she loves flipping through them Continue Reading
20 Toddler Gift Ideas
A few people have asked me what Raylee would like for Christmas, and I've seen even more mamas asking what they should get their toddlers for Christmas. I do not have any difficulty coming up with toddler gift ideas for my little one. I have too many ideas, actually! So I created this toddler gift ideas list just for those of you who struggle in this area. This Christmas, Raylee will be 21 months old, just a few months short of two. She is a full toddler at this point. She loves books and learning and trying out all the things. Her vocabulary is expanding every day. So this list was created Continue Reading
Recentering My Christmas Priorities on Christ
It has been way too long since I've blogged. Life has gotten busy and this space has been put on the back burner. It's not that I haven't wanted to write, it's not that I don't have any content ideas, it's just hard to make the time to sit down and do it. And the longer I put it off, the easier it is to put it off more. Other things have become more important. I used to say this blog was my baby, but now that I have a human baby (who is actually now a full-on toddler!), this blog is much less of a priority than it used to be. But I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things soon. The Continue Reading
I Am Washed by the Water
Travis and I found a new church right away after moving here to Louisville. We had decided to start as close as we could and work our way out as we tried churches. The first church we tried was just half a mile from our house. It turns out that we loved it, pretty much immediately. It was exactly what we were looking for. So rather than waste our time trying other churches, we decided to start getting plugged into this church right away. We've been going there for around five months now and we knew we wanted to become members so that we could start getting more involved with serving. This Continue Reading
