If there's one thing I know about life, it's that it is full of change. And if there is one thing to know about Army life, it's that it's full of even more change! Just remember last year when we thought we were moving to New York, then we thought we were staying in Missouri, and finally we found out we were actually moving to Tennessee (all in a matter of five months) -- that was a lot of change! Well, some other things have changed too, and I'm here to update ya'll. Remember in 2015 when we became land owners? Check out this post with the big announcement. In that post, I talked about how Continue Reading
Maternity Photo Shoot Tips
I had just hit 32 weeks in my pregnancy. It was time to document this big, beautiful belly of mine! Travis and I recently had a maternity photo shoot with our favorite photographer, Aubree. Before the big day, I asked Aubree if she'd be willing to share some tips for, not only me, but for all of my readers. I don't know about you but paying a photographer to come take pictures of you can be nerve-racking. What if you spend all this money and you hate the photos? What if you feel ugly? What should you wear? How should you stand? And what in the world do you do with your hands? We've all seen Continue Reading
Guy Behind the Blog Episode 17
It's the end of the month! You know what that means -- time for Travis to jump on here and answer some questions! 1. What was your favorite part of January? Do anything fun? My favorite part of January was Christmas at Tiffany's parents house! We had it in January because that was the only time everyone was available. We had so much fun eating food, playing games and opening gifts. I've used my calipers a number of times already (a gift from her parents), and my garage is so much more organized now that I put the shelves up I got from Tiffany's brother and his wife! 2. What do you most Continue Reading
Purple Elephant Baby Shower Ideas
Over the past weekend, my mom, sister-in-law, and aunt threw me a baby shower -- a purple and grey, elephant baby shower! They chose this theme because it's what we are using to decorate our daughter's nursery. The great part about having the same theme for the shower and the nursery is we can use some of the same items for decorations! During the shower, we had a craft activity, games, food, and the opening of gifts. We had around 30 guests come to the shower, and I had a fantastic time. Elephant Baby Shower Details Decorations Let's start with decorations! I loved all the little Continue Reading
Answering God’s Calling
Earlier this month I attended a women's conference in Nashville called the Influence Conference. We had worship time together, heard from several speakers, and did a break-out session. During the whole day, I had two favorite speakers -- Jess Connolly and Rebekah Lyons. It was during their talks that I heard God speak to me about something He's been calling me to do. Today, I'm sharing more about what they said, what I got from it, and how I'm answering God's calling. Inspiration from Influencers During Jess Connolly's talk, she reminded me that there is no fear when you've let go of your Continue Reading
Things to Do Before Baby Arrives
If you didn't know, I am a big-time planner. I like to know what to expect and I like to be prepared. Of course, I can't really know what to expect when it comes to birth or raising a newborn since I've never done it, but I can read up on it and ask other ladies all the questions. One thing I can do for sure is try to be as prepared as possible when it comes to things to do before baby arrives. As I've entered the third trimester, sleep has become harder and harder. Because of my giant tummy? Yes. But also because I can't seem to turn my mind off. It runs a mile a minute about everything from Continue Reading
My Favorite Gifts for Pregnancy
If I was to retake the love languages test, I wouldn't be surprised if gifts had moved up on my list. I get really excited for giving gifts that I know someone will like/love/need/want, and I definitely don't turn down a good gift either. With a baby on the way, I've gotten several gifts throughout the months. And these are my top four favorite things that I have received -- not things that are for baby necessarily, but feel like they are more for me. Perhaps you are wanting to get something sweet for someone you know who is expecting? Check out my favorite gifts for pregnancy in this post, Continue Reading
Tips for Unwanted Pregnancy Symptoms
Pregnancy is fantastic, at least in my opinion. After experiencing loss and quite some time TTC, everything that comes with pregnancy feels worth it to me. But the fact is, there are pregnancy symptoms that are just no fun. Symptoms that we could happily do without. That's why I thought I'd share some tips for the unwanted pregnancy symptoms so that maybe we can make these nine months a little easier. These tips come from my midwife, my own personal experience, and the advice from other mamas out there. Pregnancy Symptoms That Just Aren't Fun Morning Sickness I was lucky that I didn't Continue Reading
A Date in a Box: Making Date Night Easier
Date night -- this routine event can be so important for a marriage. They give you a chance to reconnect after many days of hectic schedules. They are great for quality time and physical touch -- which happen to be the top two love languages in my marriage. I love getting dressed up and going out for a special date, but sometimes it's nice to just stay home but still have a date. I imagine for those with littles running around, stay-at-home dates work best because you don't have to hire a babysitter. After the kids are tucked in, date night can begin. Do you struggle to come up with date Continue Reading
Where to Register for Baby
I remember when Travis and I registered for our wedding about four years ago. It was so exciting and so fun. Now, we've finished registering for our new baby. This time it was also exciting and fun, but it was also overwhelming. There are so many places to choose from that the first question is where to register for baby. Then comes deciding what to actually register for! Are you struggling on where to register for baby? Travis and I chose two places for registering for our daughter. Here are the things we considered when deciding: What's in our area so we can look at items in person Continue Reading
Word of the Year 2017
Every year for the past five years or so, I've chosen a word to represent the coming year. Last year, my word was New. I had prayed a lot about what my word for the year should be, and I felt God saying "new" over and over. Looking back, I can see all the ways "new" fit. After living apart for a year and going through some struggles, my marriage became new in 2016. We moved twice that year -- once to Missouri and then to Tennessee -- new areas to explore, new homes to make our own, new people to meet. We experienced loss last year, but we also got pregnant again and have got to see all the Continue Reading
