One of my all time favorite snacks to munch on is chex mix. Homemade chex mix is the best. I remember sitting in a big recliner chair at my great grandma's with a giant tub of her homemade chex mix in my lap. I sat there munching away while the adults played a game -- and it was pure happiness. I'm using a crock pot for this recipe, so hopefully it will be even easier! Here's what you'll need: Corn Chex cereal Rice Chex cereal Wheat Chex cereal Pretzel sticks Peanuts Cheerios Butter Worcestershire sauce Garlic powder Onion powder Pour all the cereals, pretzels Continue Reading
Holiday Cookies: Swirl Butter Cookies
Welcome to my Holiday Cookie Series! I'm sharing some holiday cookie recipes with you every Monday throughout the holidays. If you missed it, last week I shared a chocolate mint cookie called Grasshoppers. But this week, I'm showing you how to make Swirl Butter Cookies! Travis was excited that I was finally making a type of sugar cookie instead of some kind of chocolate cookie! He doesn't like chocolate -- crazy I know, but it means more for me. :) I was really nervous that these cookies wouldn't turn out right. Making the cookies have a swirl within the dough sounded like a failure waiting Continue Reading
Queso Dip
One of my new favorite foods is queso! I love going to Mexican restaurants now, specifically for their chips and queso. I wanted to be able to make this delicious dip at home, and now I can. This recipe is fabulous! Travis and I love chowing down on chips and queso while watching TV or a movie. We refrigerate the leftovers and heat it up later -- and it's still just as good! Here's what you'll need: White American cheese Butter Milk Chopped green chilies Garlic powder Onion powder Cumin Cayenne pepper First, put the cheese, butter and milk together in a saucepan Continue Reading
Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
It's a long name, but these cookies are so good. If you like peanut butter ... if you like chocolate ... if you like cookies, you will like these! And that's all there is to it! Here's what you'll need: Flour Baking soda Salt Butter Peanut butter Sugar Brown sugar Chocolate chips Vanilla Egg Rolled oats First, in a separate bowl mix together the flour, baking soda and salt. In your Kitchen Aid mixer, or in a bowl using a regular mixer, cream together the peanut butter, butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla for about three minutes at medium speed. Continue Reading
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bites
I got home from working out and had a salad for lunch. It was good, but within an hour I was hungry for something else. Something sweet. I was tempted to pull out a bag of Reese's cups or grab a spoon and a pint of chocolate peanut butter ice cream from the freezer. But instead, I went with something a smidge healthier. I still got the chocolate and peanut butter taste, but I threw in a banana! Fruit = healthy, right? Well, it turns out bananas are a great post-workout food! They have fast-acting carbs that help restore your body's energy levels and rebuild damaged muscles. Plus, it has Continue Reading
Reese’s Frozen Pie
My brother and his girlfriend came to visit this past weekend. We had a fantastic time visiting Tybee Island, Wormsloe Plantation and River Street. I loved getting to hear my brother play his guitar and getting to know his girlfriend even better. Not to mention all the laughter we shared! My brother's birthday is this week so I decided to make a special dessert to celebrate. Who likes Reese's Peanut Butter Cups? The real question is who doesn't like Reese's? Chocolate and peanut butter together is like Heaven. So I made this Reese's frozen pie, and it was really good. What you'll Continue Reading
Marshmallow Rolls
Mmmmm mmm mmm were these good! I made these scrumptious rolls right before supper was finished cooking, and we ended up eating almost all of them before supper! A lot of people call these resurrection rolls and make them for Easter while telling the story of how Jesus rose from the dead. I remember my mother making these with my brother and I once. But since it isn't anywhere near Easter, I renamed them. And they still taste just as yummy! Here's what you'll need: Butter Crescent roll dough (I used Pillsbury-8 count) Cinnamon and sugar Marshmallows That's not too many Continue Reading
Buttered Italian Shrimp
I tried out this recipe I saw on Pinterest, and wow. It was delicious! I love it! This recipe leaves the shrimp with a melt-in-your-mouth buttery taste. We enjoy these shrimp with pasta salad. But really a lot of sides would go with this recipe. Try it out for yourself. You'll need a butter stick, a lemon, dry Italian mix, and shrimp. Pretty simple, huh? I started by lining a baking sheet with aluminum foil. This made clean-up a breeze! I didn't even need to wash the pan! I just wrapped up the foil and threw it away. Melt a stick of butter on the baking sheet. (You will Continue Reading
Baked Grouper
I found a recipe through Pinterest from The Devil's Punchbowl. It was for a baked salmon and had very few ingredients. It looked really good, and I love salmon. While visiting Travis, we decided to try it. He had been deep sea fishing with his dad the week before and brought home tons of fish. We decided to try the recipe with grouper instead of salmon. We didn't think it would make much of a difference, but maybe it did. All we needed was the fish, salt and pepper, a lemon and butter. We sliced up the lemon and placed the slices on a piece of aluminum foil. We set the grouper on top. We Continue Reading
