I haven't wrote a Thankful Thursday post since September! But just because I wasn't writing a post about it, doesn't mean I haven't been thankful. There have been tons of things to be thankful for. We have really been in a season of joy. Seasons change though. I do feel like we are transitioning into a new season. It doesn't mean we can't be joyful in this new season, but it's going to be different. I feel like it may be more challenging. That means it's even more important to see the sunshine, remember your blessings, write down what you are thankful for, and be grateful for the little Continue Reading
A Challenge: Refuse to Shut Down
Three minutes. That's how long it usually takes for my husband and I to drive from our house to post. Today, however, it took us over an hour to get my husband, who's an officer in the Army, to work. Traffic was backed up for miles to enter the main gate because so many other gates were closed due to the government shutdown. Inconvenience. So far, the government shutdown only affects me by inconvenience. But I realize that for others, it can have much scarier effects. Some people can't work. Some people aren't being paid. And because of that, those people may be tempted to shut down Continue Reading
Hash Brown Casserole
Comfort food. That's what this recipe is all about. Travis loves cheesy potatoes, so he loves when I make this hash brown casserole. And so do I! I found this recipe on Nancy Creative. The problem was, and I have this problem with most recipes, it was a recipe for a whole family. A family of four or five people plus leftovers. Travis and I like to eat, definitely, but I really needed the recipe to be for just two. So I cut the recipe in half to fit our needs. And we still have leftovers! While I was editing these photos, I was getting so hungry. Just looking at it makes my mouth Continue Reading
Triple Mint Marshmallow Oreo Brownies
Sometimes I just get in the mood to cook/bake. I say sometimes, because other times I'm in the exact opposite mood. I'd rather do anything than cook or bake. But when you get something like Oreo brownies, I'm all about whatever it takes to make them so I can eat them! When I am in that in-the-kitchen-housewife-wearing-an-apron-kind-of-mood, I really like trying new recipes that I find on Pinterest. And I enjoy sharing the final product with friends, family and co-workers. And I think they enjoy it too! How delicious does that look?! Last summer, I tried what I'm calling Triple Mint Continue Reading
A Challenge To Be Positive in a Negative World
In my job as a journalist, I have had the opportunity to write a some really neat articles. One about a little girl who celebrated her birthday by raising money for a Crisis Pregnancy Center. "I wanted to do it for all the kids that will never get a birthday," the little girl told me. One about a couple who have spent the last two years traveling the country on horseback while praying for our country and its leaders. And another of a couple who built a ship in their backyard with their own hands and plan to use it for mission work. My job has brought me a few really inspiring stories. I'm Continue Reading
