Raylee is turning two this month, and I can't believe it. I had originally decided we would do a very small, simple party for her. But then we found out we were expecting and we would have the gender ultrasound just days before her party. Not to mention, we just love both our families (big families) and we wanted a chance for them all to see our new house, especially after we had completed so many projects. So we went big! I decided to do a bee theme and host a bee-day party that doubled as a gender reveal party. We ended up having around 50 people come, so thank goodness we have a pretty big Continue Reading
Purple and Grey Nursery
When we found out we were having a girl at our baseball-themed gender reveal party, I knew exactly how I wanted to decorate the nursery. I've never been a pink kind of girl. Purple has always been my favorite color, so I wanted to do a purple and grey nursery. I wanted to use all different shades of purple with lots of different patterns. Simple. Cute. Girly. We started by taking out all the furniture in my home office and painting the walls grey. It turns out grey is a hard color to find. The first coat looked blue and Travis repainted the whole thing until it finally looked grey. Then we Continue Reading
Tennessee Home Tour
I had lots of comments when I posted my Missouri home tour and showed you all our house. Lots of family especially liked being able to take a tour if they couldn't visit. I decided I should do the same again in our latest house here in Tennessee. This is a picture-heavy post, but who doesn't like to look at pictures? Just keep in mind that I'm not a professional photographer and don't claim to be! The lighting isn't wonderful and it's hard to get an entire room in one shot! Let's start with the living room. We have two large closets, a small entry way, and a half bathroom all located in Continue Reading
Christmas Decorations 2015
This year I considered not even putting up our Christmas tree. At the time I didn't think Travis was going to be able to come home for Christmas. I asked ya'll on Instagram and Facebook, and everyone said to put it up! Then I found out my husband was going to get to come home, and suddenly I wanted all the Christmas decorations I could get my hands on. I wanted the house to be very welcoming and cheery and warm for his arrival. I got the Christmas tree up and decorated with the help of my mama and soon-to-be sister-in-law. Thanks so much for your help! I loved putting together the rest of Continue Reading
7 DIY Wreaths for Fall
I loveĀ fall. It is my favorite season. I could list all the reasons why and leave you reading for hours, but instead I'm sure you can just take my word for it. One of the things I love doing for fall is decorating. I love doing that for all seasons really, but fall decorating feels warm and cozy. I love looking at wreaths, and I wish I knew how to make them. So I found some cute DIY wreaths from some fellow bloggers that I thought I would share with you. These are all perfect to hang on our doors for fall. No one feels more welcome than when they see a big beautiful fall wreath on the door Continue Reading
Wedding Vow Art
My husband and I wrote our own vows for our wedding. It was something I really wanted to do, and I think we are both so glad that we did it. I love that they were written from the heart and very personal. We wrote our vows separately and didn't hear each other's until our wedding ceremony. It made it even more special! After our wedding, I knew I wanted to create something with our wedding vows to display in our home. I wanted to be reminded of those vows often. I also loved our wedding photos. We had a great photographer, and I figured I could display our wedding vows using our wedding Continue Reading
Purple and Grey Bridal Shower Ideas
Like I told you last week, I got to plan and host my first bridal shower a couple weeks ago. It was really fun deciding how I wanted to decorate. I went with a purple and grey bridal shower theme -- the bride's favorite color is purple. And so is mine! I loved how it turned out. This post contains affiliate links. View my disclosure policy here. We did a Bridal Brunch complete with breakfast foods! Our menu consisted of sausage links, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, fruit kabobs with dip, hash brown casserole, chicken salad sandwiches, cheese cubes, and muffins. We also had Continue Reading
How to Make a Fabric Garland
Whether you are making one for party decorations or something else, these fabric garlands are darling. And so easy to make! I think I might make some red and green ones next year to use as Christmas decorations! Here's what you'll need: Fabric Scissors Twine I started by cutting the twine -- twice as long as the length you want your garland to be. You're going to double the twine instead of using just one piece of twine. By doubling the twine, your garland will be twice as strong and won't break as easily. Tie the two ends of the twine together in a double knot. And Continue Reading
Christmas Decor and Cards
This post contains affiliate links. Thanks for supporting my blog. The Christmas season is fully upon us! We have the house decorated, I've made Christmas cookies, and the Christmas cards are in the mail! Now, to just finish the Christmas shopping. This year we decorated our tree with even more ornaments than last year. Now, we have ornaments from our cruise, our Disney World vacation, our trip to Sea World, and the ones we got for Christmas last year. Our tree is looking a little more full, although we still used a few dollar store ornaments to finish it off. By next year, we probably Continue Reading
House to Home: Guest Bedroom
It has been SO LONG since I wrote a House to Home post. Too long. But we finally have another room completed! Our guest bedroom! Here is our game shelf. I love playing board games and wish we got to play themĀ more often. Here's our book/storage shelf in the middle of the room. At the bottom of this post, I give you a sneak peek into what's in those storage bins. Yes, we have a Spongebob stuffed animal. It was a random silly gift from my dad. (family joke) Above that shelf, I have some wall art. I just used frames and scrapbook paper to make this Continue Reading
Our Christmas Decorating
Once Christmas rolls around, Travis and I will have been married for six months. Half a year people! One of my prayers going into this military marriage was that we would be able to spend our first Christmas together. I prayed that Travis wouldn't get deployed within that first year. So far, my prayers are being answered and we will definitely be able to spend our first Christmas together. I'm very thankful and my heart goes out to those couples who won't get that privilege. Travis and I both love Christmas -- the decorations, the music, the baking, the church services, the festivities, Continue Reading
