I posted a link to my latest blog post to Facebook. With almost 1,000 Facebook followers, you would think many of them would see it, a percentage of those people would engage with the post by liking or commenting, and a smaller percentage would click the link. But here I sit, waiting for anyone to even see that post. Facebook tells me that even though I have almost 1,000 followers, only 25 people have seen that post. As bloggers and business people, we know that Facebook reach is low. It makes sense -- they want us to pay for those views by boosting our posts. Most of us bloggers like to Continue Reading
Cleaning Up Your Facebook News Feed
When you scroll through your Facebook news feed, what do you see? What types of images are your eyes scanning? What types of videos do you stop to watch? When you read a post from a friend or page, what kind of words are used? Are the things you are seeing on your Facebook news feed encouraging and uplifting? Are they filled with Truth? Or are you seeing foul words, inappropriate images, and things you wouldn't want your pastor seeing? If you accidentally clicked share on one of those posts, would you be embarrassed or ashamed? Perhaps it is time to clean up our Facebook pages. This has Continue Reading

Guess what ya’ll! Something new and exciting is about to happen at Seeing Sunshine. Bust out the confetti! I’m throwing a party! A Facebook party! Yes, put on your party hats! If Facebook is Leaving You Jealous
The other day I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed and a certain emotion began to overtake me. I saw couples writing on each other's walls with things like, "I love you" or "I miss you." I felt annoyed. I kept scrolling. Wedding photos. Happy, happy couples who made the big commitment. I felt happy for them, but I could also feel something else crawling its way into me. I kept scrolling. A girl had posted photos of herself looking amazing. "Wow, she's gorgeous," I thought, but also began to think something else about myself. I kept scrolling. Someone's status said they were at the Continue Reading
A Challenge To Be Positive in a Negative World
In my job as a journalist, I have had the opportunity to write a some really neat articles. One about a little girl who celebrated her birthday by raising money for a Crisis Pregnancy Center. "I wanted to do it for all the kids that will never get a birthday," the little girl told me. One about a couple who have spent the last two years traveling the country on horseback while praying for our country and its leaders. And another of a couple who built a ship in their backyard with their own hands and plan to use it for mission work. My job has brought me a few really inspiring stories. I'm Continue Reading
