I had so much fun making a baseball-themed care package and a Fourth of July care package for Travis while he lives in South Korea. I've been looking forward to the next box I could send. I definitely miss Travis -- like a lot. So this care package seemed perfect. I really have been feeling blue without my hubby! When you open the box, it says "I'm so BLUE ... without YOU!" It's really simple to decorate and fill this box. I used blue scrapbook paper to cover the box and white sticker letters for the phrase. I included two blue ribbon bows to add a little something extra and fun to the Continue Reading
Fourth of July Care Package
Every day is Independence Day in America. But we celebrate it on July 4th with barbecues, boating, homemade ice cream, fireworks, and a whole lot of red, white, and blue. As far as I can remember, Travis and I have only spent one or maybe two of these holidays together. Knowing we wouldn't be together this year, I wanted to send him something special for one of his favorite holidays. I put together a Fourth of July Care Package complete with everything red, white, and blue. Here's what was in his care package and other ideas for your own care package! I loved decorating this box Continue Reading
Baseball Themed Care Package
Travis and I are celebrating our second wedding anniversary this month. Of course, we are celebrating while being 7,000 miles apart, which can make it a little tricky. This year, I wanted to put my care package skills to the test and create something awesome for Travis to open as an anniversary gift. My husband loves baseball. He's played the game since he was a kid, and he loves to watch it too. He's on a post-wide softball team in Korea, and I have no doubt that someday he will be a baseball coach for our own children. So a baseball themed care package was a perfect fit for my man. I Continue Reading

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas & Deals
Mother's Day is upon us. I don't know about you, but my mom is one of my very best friends. In fact, I'd say as far as best friends go, my husband is #1 and my mom is #2. It's pretty special that I get to call my own mother not just a friend but a best friend. I hope that you feel the same way about your own mother. This Mother's Day, let's spoil those diaper-changing, tear-wiping, hug-giving ladies we've grown up with. The advice-giving, meal-making mamas who have been there for us every step of the way -- yes, they deserve a thanks. So today, I'm first of all reminding you that Continue Reading
Dinner Party Menu Ideas
Last week, I had my first dinner party in my new house. Remember how I've talked about how hospitality is on my heart lately? Well, this was one way I could extend hospitality to some of my favorite people. I made tacos. I borrowed a card table from my grandparents and some extra chairs too. I baked a small pan of brownies. I made a pitcher of lemonade. And I welcomed them into my unfinished home, to sit at my table and commune with me. I think they enjoyed my hospitality. But I definitely know that I enjoyed hosting them. The few days leading up to that party had been rough. I had felt Continue Reading
Purple and Grey Bridal Shower Ideas
Like I told you last week, I got to plan and host my first bridal shower a couple weeks ago. It was really fun deciding how I wanted to decorate. I went with a purple and grey bridal shower theme -- the bride's favorite color is purple. And so is mine! I loved how it turned out. This post contains affiliate links. View my disclosure policy here. We did a Bridal Brunch complete with breakfast foods! Our menu consisted of sausage links, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, fruit kabobs with dip, hash brown casserole, chicken salad sandwiches, cheese cubes, and muffins. We also had Continue Reading
Three Fun Bridal Shower Games
I recently hosted a bridal shower for a beautiful woman who I have been friends with since second grade. I'm honored to get to be her matron of honor, and I was really excited to plan her shower. I will be posting about the details of the party in the next couple weeks. For now, though, I wanted to share about the games we played. These were three games that were easy to plan and get materials for. Everyone seemed to really enjoy them, and I love that they were all about the bride and her groom. Game #1 How Well Do You Know the Bride? Each guest received a piece a paper with 10 Continue Reading
30+ TV Series to Watch as a Couple
Living apart from your husband for a year can be hard, especially when there's a big time difference. We miss a lot of things about being together, but especially those little things. Things like watching TV together while cuddling on the couch. While Travis is on the other side of the world, we decided to start a new TV series together. We can both watch them on our own, but stay on the same pace with each other. That way we can talk about the episodes whenever we talk, or leave each other messages about the episode to see when we wake up. It's something we can do "together" while we're Continue Reading

Perhaps you'd like to brighten their day with a care package or gift. I've compiled this list of gift ideas for your friends who are moving or PCSing (if they're a military family). How to Make a Fabric Garland
Whether you are making one for party decorations or something else, these fabric garlands are darling. And so easy to make! I think I might make some red and green ones next year to use as Christmas decorations! Here's what you'll need: Fabric Scissors Twine I started by cutting the twine -- twice as long as the length you want your garland to be. You're going to double the twine instead of using just one piece of twine. By doubling the twine, your garland will be twice as strong and won't break as easily. Tie the two ends of the twine together in a double knot. And Continue Reading
