Reflections on Turning 30

Reflections on Turning 30

Well, it's here. The big 3-0. Yes, this month I turn 30 years old. In a way it seems unreal, and then I think about it and realize that's about right. Yep, I'm turning 30, and it's got me thinking of some reflections. Last year, I attended a weekend getaway with a friend who was turning 30. Several girls got together to celebrate my friend, and it was such a wonderful time out in the mountains of Tennessee. One night, as we basked in the heat of the hot tub on our cabin porch, one friend asked the birthday girl some really reflective questions. I loved it! I love stuff like that -- really Continue Reading

Answering God’s Calling

Answering God’s Calling

Earlier this month I attended a women's conference in Nashville called the Influence Conference. We had worship time together, heard from several speakers, and did a break-out session. During the whole day, I had two favorite speakers -- Jess Connolly and Rebekah Lyons. It was during their talks that I heard God speak to me about something He's been calling me to do. Today, I'm sharing more about what they said, what I got from it, and how I'm answering God's calling. Inspiration from Influencers During Jess Connolly's talk, she reminded me that there is no fear when you've let go of your Continue Reading

Guy Behind the Blog Episode 15

The end of a month means it's time for Travis to hop over and answer some questions in our Guy Behind the Blog series! This month, I'm answering the questions and Travis is responding in italics! Let's get started! 1. What is something that you do that he wishes you wouldn't do? He doesn't like it when I can't make up my mind. For instance, when I can't/won't choose where to eat or what to eat. Or when I'm making any type of decision and completely stressing over it. Yes, and I also don't like it when you chew on your fingers and bite your lips. 2. You bake him a cake for his birthday, Continue Reading

How To Determine Your Freelance Rates

Recently, a fellow freelance writer was offered an opportunity for another freelance job. She came to me asking how she should determine her freelance rates. We discussed what a daunting process this can be. You don't want to oversell yourself, but you also want to get paid what you deserve. When I first started freelance writing, I had no idea what to expect as far as payment. But now, with a few years under my belt and several jobs on my resume, I have a better idea of how to determine my freelance rates. And I'm here to help you do the same! Whether you are freelance writing, Continue Reading

Will We Know Each Other in Heaven?

Will We Know Each Other in Heaven?

I've had a ton of questions about death and Heaven lately. I go through phases where I start to really question and wonder about all these things my little human brain doesn't know or can't understand. One of my biggest questions is -- Will we know each other in Heaven? As in, will I recognize my family and friends who are there? Will We Know Each Other in Heaven? I have a feeling this is something everyone wants to know. And I suspect everyone hopes the answer is yes. I know that's what I'm hoping. We get so close to those in this world with us. Heaven doesn't sound so great if I don't Continue Reading
