Chicken N’ Dumplings

October 13, 2014 by Tiffany

Chicken N’ Dumplings

I can't believe how easy this recipe is, and yet it still turned out tasting delicious! This for all of us who don't have time to make dumplings from scratch, but still want that home cooked taste! Here's what you'll need: Chicken broth Chicken Canned biscuits (Tip: Don't use the flaky layers biscuits because the dish will turn out mushy. If you use regular home style biscuits, it turns out just right!) Cream of chicken soup Pepper Bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add in the shredded baked chicken. Turn the heat to medium. Cut the biscuit dough into quarters. Add these to the Continue Reading

Italian Beef

Italian Beef

Sometimes I feel like all we eat is chicken around here. Probably because I don't like hamburger, as I've told you before. But I do like beef. Just not in hamburger form. So I started making Italian beef, and it is delicious! It is juicy and flavorful and has a zip to it! Here's what you'll need: Roast (round or rump) Italian dressing mix Banana pepper rings Onion Garlic First, put the roast in your crock pot. Sprinkle the Italian dressing mix on top. Pour the whole jar of pepper rings on top -- peppers and liquid. Mince the garlic and put it inside the crock Continue Reading

Blueberry Pie

Blueberry Pie

My husband and I recently went to a blueberry farm to pick fresh berries. The farm had 13 acres of blueberry bushes, and we picked one gallon to take home for ourselves. Fresh blueberries are the best! It was such a fun little after-work activity. This farm doesn't spray any pesticides or insecticides on their crops, and we got a whole gallon of these delicious little bluebs for only five bucks! We froze some of the blueberries and set some aside to eat fresh or use in cereal or pancakes. Then we also set four cups aside so I could make a blueberry pie. As soon as I had all the Continue Reading

Sweetie Pies

Valentine's Day is upon us folks. This will be my first one with a husband. But whether you are married or single, you can still celebrate with a yummy treat! You can make these for your family to enjoy, for dessert during a romantic home-cooked meal, to devour all by yourself while crying during your favorite chick flick, to take to a party or to give as a thank you gift to people in your community. Whatever floats your boat! First of all, don't you just love their name? Sweetie Pies are sweet and made of pie dough so the name really does fit and is perfect for this holiday. Here's Continue Reading

Holiday Cookies: Snowflake Oreos

Holiday Cookies: Snowflake Oreos

Our holiday cookies series is coming to an end. Have you tried any of my cookie recipes? My favorite recipe is Swirl Butter Cookies -- I could eat those all day! Today, I'm sharing Snowflake Oreos! These cookies are so easy, probably because half the cookie is already made thanks to Nabisco. Here's what you'll need: Oreos White chocolate chips Decorating Gel Begin by melting the chocolate chips in the microwave at 15 second intervals. Stir between each heating until the chocolate is completely melted. It usually take one minute, but you have to do it in intervals or the chocolate Continue Reading

Crock Pot Chex Mix

Crock Pot Chex Mix

One of my all time favorite snacks to munch on is chex mix. Homemade chex mix is the best. I remember sitting in a big recliner chair at my great grandma's with a giant tub of her homemade chex mix in my lap. I sat there munching away while the adults played a game -- and it was pure happiness. I'm using a crock pot for this recipe, so hopefully it will be even easier! Here's what you'll need: Corn Chex cereal Rice Chex cereal Wheat Chex cereal Pretzel sticks Peanuts Cheerios Butter Worcestershire sauce Garlic powder Onion powder Pour all the cereals, pretzels Continue Reading

Holiday Cookies: Surprise Brownies

Have you been following along with all my holiday series? In the Holiday Cookie series, I've shared recipes for Grasshoppers and Swirl Butter Cookies. Today is Surprise Brownies! The best part about these cookies is that you can make them for all sorts of holidays! I made them last year for Halloween, and now I'm making them for Christmas. The surprise? Oreos! Each brownie has an Oreo inside! I'm using the holiday Oreos (with red creme) inside my Christmas cookies. For Halloween, I used the Oreos with orange filling. You can make them for Valentine's Day or St. Patrick's Day -- whenever Continue Reading

Spinach Tortellini Soup

Who's tired of the same old soups all winter long? Well, have you tried this spinach tortellini soup? It's so easy to make. This soup reminded me of something you would eat when you were sick because of the chicken broth. I think that flavor just brings me comfort. I didn't think my husband would enjoy this recipe, but he actually did. He ate two big bowls full! Spinach Tortellini Soup Recipe Here's what you'll need: Chicken broth Tortellini Baby spinach Shredded Parmesan cheese That's it! Wow! You might even have some of this already in your kitchen! We tend to always Continue Reading

Chocolate Truffle Cookies

Chocolate Truffle Cookies

These cookies seemed really complicated to me when I first read the recipe. But I adapted it to make it a bit more simple. It's still a little tedious, but the end result is chocolate heaven. If you are one of those people who think there's no such thing as too much chocolate, well, these cookies are for you! They are rich, that's for sure. But they are sure to be a huge hit with chocolate lovers. My husband took a few bags of them to work to share with the soldiers, and I got back good reviews! Here's what you'll need: Flour Cocoa powder Baking powder Salt Bittersweet Continue Reading

Beef Stroganoff

Beef Stroganoff

My college roommate would make us beef stroganoff whenever it was her turn to cook for "roomie dinners." And it was my favorite roomie dinner ever. I loved when Aubrey would make this meal, and I was excited to try her recipe out for my husband. I had a feeling he would enjoy it, and my feeling was spot on! Here's what you'll need: Roast, thawed Onion soup mix Kitchen Bouquet Browning & Seasoning Sauce, 4-oz bottle No Yolk Noodles Cornstarch In the morning, put your thawed roast in your crock pot (with your slow cooker liner!) Pour half a bottle of the Kitchen Continue Reading

Cookie Dough Pizza

Cookie Dough Pizza

I can pretty much guarantee this will be the best pizza you've ever had. Why? Because it has ice cream in it. And cookie dough. Yes, you heard me right. Best. Pizza. Ever. With my hubby still recovering from his eye surgery, I knew this would be a treat that would cheer him up. So while he slept in the closet (it's the darkest room in the house and his eyes were very light sensitive) all knocked out from his pain meds, I worked on this pizza. Let me clarify here -- it looks a lot more like a pizza if you use a round pan and cut it into slices. I didn't have a good round pan to use, Continue Reading

Apple Pie Bites

Apple Pie Bites

My husband had surgery recently. Eye surgery. It was a fairly quick procedure. I only had to wait all morning before I got to see that the surgeon hadn't blinded him. We'd been told by several people that the surgery wouldn't be the tough part -- the recovery would. We were told it is very painful and would take a couple weeks before he could see clearly. My husband came home the day before the procedure with a giant bag full of medications and eye drops. As I read the descriptions for when and how many times he was to take each one, I seriously became queasy. I thought I was going to pass Continue Reading
