French Dips

French Dips

When Travis came home from the field, I wanted to make him one of his favorite meals. I welcomed him home with French Dips, Hash Brown Casserole and Cookie Dough Pizza for dessert. It's safe to say he was very pleased. Since I've already shared the other recipes, it's time to share how to make French Dips -- courtesy of my mother-in-law. Here's what you'll need: Roast Water Soy Sauce Rosemary Thyme Garlic Powder Bay Leaf Peppercorns Sub Buns This recipe is so easy to make. Put your slow cooker linerĀ in the crock pot so you'll have less of a mess to clean up Continue Reading

Vegetable Soup

Vegetable Soup

One of my favorite meals that my mom would make when I lived at home was roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy. Whenever she made that meal you knew two things: we would all sit at the table as a family and we would probably have vegetable soup for supper the next day. Yes, my mama put roast beef in her veggie soup and I am so happy she did. I wasn't much of a meat-eater when I was younger, especially red meats. Beef Stroganoff

My college roommate would make us beef stroganoff whenever it was her turn to cook for "roomie dinners." And it was my favorite roomie dinner ever. I loved when Aubrey would make this meal, and I was excited to try her recipe out for my husband. I had a feeling he would enjoy it, and my feeling was spot on! Here's what you'll need: Roast, thawed Onion soup mix Kitchen Bouquet Browning & Seasoning Sauce, 4-oz bottle No Yolk Noodles Cornstarch In the morning, put your thawed roast in your crock pot (with your slow cooker liner!) Pour half a bottle of the Kitchen Continue Reading

The Perfect Pot Roast

The Perfect Pot Roast

The first time I made this meal, Travis practically broke out in applause he loved it so much. And If I could do a back flip I would have in celebration of such an amazing success of a meal. I love roast beef. I love potatoes. ( I don't think there's a starch I don't like!) I love carrots. And this recipe puts all those things together, but it's not just your normal pot roast recipe. This one is SOOOOO flavorful! It's one of those meals that makes you want to eat slowly to savor each and every bite. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! So let's get on with it, shall we? Here's what Continue Reading
