Travis' favorite kind of cookie is sugar cookies, and lately I've been on a any-kind-of-cookie kick. It seemed like the perfect time to make these quick sugar cookies. I got the recipe from my Aunt Traci, and they are seriously the best sugar cookies I've ever had. They really are easy to make, but best of all they are so soft. I love soft sugar cookies with not too much icing. Here's what you'll need: Flour Salt Baking soda Shortening Sugar Vanilla Eggs That's it. I imagine most of us have all of these things in our pantries already. That's one of the things that makes this Continue Reading
Cinnamon Sugar Pecans
I decided to give these little treats a try. After I finished them, my mom was so excited because her grandmother used to always make them. I took them to my mom's house and she got out the old antique candy dish our Grandma Thompson used for her cinnamon sugar pecans. I know it warmed my mama's heart to have these treats sitting in that dish. These are yummy! I wanted to share this recipe if not for anyone else at least for my mom. Here's what you'll need: Pecan halves Egg white Water Vanilla extract Sugar Cinnamon Salt Preheat your oven to 250 degrees and spray a Continue Reading
Sugar Cream Pie
Sugar Cream Pie. I'd never had it before. In fact, I had never even heard of it! But it is one of my husband's favorite desserts. So of course I had to learn to make it! This recipe is really pretty easy as long as you follow the instructions exactly. It could be difficult to get it the right consistency. Here's what you need: Half and half Butter Sugar Cornstarch Pie crust Vanilla Cinnamon Bake the pie crust. Mix the sugar and cornstarch together. Set aside. On low to medium heat, completely melt the half and half and butter together -- do not let it Continue Reading
Sweetie Pies
Valentine's Day is upon us folks. This will be my first one with a husband. But whether you are married or single, you can still celebrate with a yummy treat! You can make these for your family to enjoy, for dessert during a romantic home-cooked meal, to devour all by yourself while crying during your favorite chick flick, to take to a party or to give as a thank you gift to people in your community. Whatever floats your boat! First of all, don't you just love their name? Sweetie Pies are sweet and made of pie dough so the name really does fit and is perfect for this holiday. Here's Continue Reading

Holiday Cookies: Swirl Butter Cookies
Welcome to my Holiday Cookie Series! I'm sharing some holiday cookie recipes with you every Monday throughout the holidays. If you missed it, last week I shared a chocolate mint cookie called Grasshoppers. But this week, I'm showing you how to make Swirl Butter Cookies! Travis was excited that I was finally making a type of sugar cookie instead of some kind of chocolate cookie! He doesn't like chocolate -- crazy I know, but it means more for me. :) I was really nervous that these cookies wouldn't turn out right. Making the cookies have a swirl within the dough sounded like a failure waiting Continue Reading
Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies
I made these cookies once before I was married and everyone on the block wanted some! I went around delivering them to various family members who were much appreciative. I made them again this week to take to our church small group. They seemed to be a big hit, especially with the kids. Every time I turned around someone was taking a bite of one! Have you ever had an Andes mint, like what Olive Garden gives out after your meal? If you like those, you'll love these cookies. I'm a huge mint chocolate fan! Here's what you'll need: Sugar cookie mix Butter Egg Mint Continue Reading
Sweet & Tangy Glazed Chicken
This chicken is pretty yummy, especially on top of noodles or rice. It really is both sweet and tangy, and the crushed red pepper adds a kick! Just look at that picture, doesn't it look so good? This is a crock pot meal, but there is a little bit of prep work before you can serve -- nothing too hard though. Here's what'll you need: Boneless, skinless chicken breasts Soy sauce Brown sugar Apple cider vinegar Garlic Sprite Crushed red pepper Pepper Cornstarch One of the great things about this recipe is you don't have to defrost the chicken. I don't know why I love Continue Reading
Marshmallow Rolls
Mmmmm mmm mmm were these good! I made these scrumptious rolls right before supper was finished cooking, and we ended up eating almost all of them before supper! A lot of people call these resurrection rolls and make them for Easter while telling the story of how Jesus rose from the dead. I remember my mother making these with my brother and I once. But since it isn't anywhere near Easter, I renamed them. And they still taste just as yummy! Here's what you'll need: Butter Crescent roll dough (I used Pillsbury-8 count) Cinnamon and sugar Marshmallows That's not too many Continue Reading
Crockpot Teriyaki Chicken
This is probably going to be the easiest recipe I'll ever write about. And it turns out really good. Travis said it was the best meal I've ever made. Granted, he says that every night after licking his plate clean. Luckily for me I don't have too picky of a husband. Anyways, for this recipe you'll need: Boneless, skinless chicken breasts (I used 5 so we could each eat 2 1/2) Pineapple juice Soy sauce Brown sugar Pasta Sides Teriyaki Noodles (optional) Now I'm going to let you in on a little secret of mine. I use Crock Pot Liners to make clean-up a breeze! Have I told you Continue Reading
Dirt Pudding Without Cream Cheese
You wouldn't think a dessert with the word dirt in it would be good. But dirt pudding is not just good, it's great. This has been one of my favorite snacks/desserts since probably second grade! I make this recipe a little different from most. I like the Oreo part best, and I don't like cream cheese at all. I also don't like gummy worms in mine; I think it totally takes away from the wonderfulness of this dessert. So I add extra Oreos and take out the cream cheese altogether. And it still tastes amazing, even without gummy worms. Here's my recipe for dirt pudding without cream Continue Reading
