When we found out we would be PCSing to Fort Campbell and living in Clarksville, Tennessee, I was excited because it would be fairly close to Indiana. (Four hour drive from my family) What I didn't realize, though, is how much I would love the Clarksville area. We lived there for almost two years, and now that we recently moved I've been thinking back to all the neat spots that I loved in that city. For those out there who are PCSing to Fort Campbell or maybe already live in Clarksville, I wanted to share those favorite spots. About a week before we moved, a friend took me a park that was Continue Reading
Things to Do Before Baby Arrives
If you didn't know, I am a big-time planner. I like to know what to expect and I like to be prepared. Of course, I can't really know what to expect when it comes to birth or raising a newborn since I've never done it, but I can read up on it and ask other ladies all the questions. One thing I can do for sure is try to be as prepared as possible when it comes to things to do before baby arrives. As I've entered the third trimester, sleep has become harder and harder. Because of my giant tummy? Yes. But also because I can't seem to turn my mind off. It runs a mile a minute about everything from Continue Reading
Things to Do in Seattle
Our last stop on our road trip up the west coast was to Seattle, Washington. I had never been to this state before, so I'm excited I got to mark it off my bucket list! Seattle was rainy, dreary, and cold just as we expected. But despite the weather, we really enjoyed our day in this city. Seattle Must-Sees Space Needle Our first stop was the Space Needle, of course. It's what Seattle is known for! We got combo tickets for the Space Needle and the glass museum so that we could get a discount since we knew we were going to both. We also recommend finding parking on the street or even a nearby Continue Reading
Things to Do in San Francisco
I've been to San Francisco three times in my life -- once as a kid on a family vacation, once in college on spring break, and now as an adult during my baby moon vacation. As Travis and I made our way up the coast of California, San Francisco had to be one of our stops. He had never been there before, and I couldn't wait to show him some of my favorite spots. Here's what we did while in the Golden Gate city, plus a few tips for those of you visiting. Must-Sees in San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge Of course this bridge is what San Francisco is known for. With it's 746-foot tall Continue Reading
Things to Do Near Fort Leonard Wood
Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri is often referred to as Fort Lost in the Woods because it seems to be out in the middle of nowhere. For people who are used to city life, this duty station can be a big change. It can definitely feel like there's not much around. But Travis and I both feel like every duty station is what you make of it. You can PCS and be totally depressed ... or you can have a good attitude and find new adventures -- even while lost in the woods! Travis and I have only been stationed at Fort Leonard Wood for five months, but we have already found a ton of fun things to do! Continue Reading
Things to Do in St. Louis
A lot of people make fun of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. It has the nickname Fort Lost in the Woods, because it's out in the middle of nowhere. People will often say there's nothing to do here, but I disagree. Travis and I have been so busy doing lots of fun activities every weekend. The biggest city in this state is a mere two hours away. We have spent some time in St. Louis, and probably aren't finished with this city. It's perfect for a weekend getaway! For anyone else planning a trip to St. Louis, I've compiled a list of things to do there! Our Favorite Things to Do in St. Continue Reading
Things to Do in Branson
For Easter weekend, Travis and I decided to take a short trip to see Branson, Missouri. It's only a couple hours away, and we've heard lots of great things about this city. Today, I'm sharing what we did in Branson, as well as other things to do there. Our Favorite Things in Branson Extreme Racing There are several places to ride go-karts, but of course Travis wanted the fastest ones we could find. This led us to Extreme Racing, where you have to qualify before actually racing the fast cars. And these cars were fast! I was really impressed with the organization, staff, and safety Continue Reading
3 Things to Do in Boracay, Philippines
During our time in South Korea, Travis and I wanted to take advantage of his time off of work for Thanksgiving. We had heard from lots of people that traveling to the Philippines was very cheap. We like cheap. And we love the beach. So we booked the tickets! Over the four day weekend, Travis and I traveled to Boracay, Philippines. We loved the island -- the gorgeous sunsets, the warm beaches, the cheap food, the friendly people, and the beautiful views. Yes, the Philippines has lots to offer. Since we only had three days to actually spend enjoying the island, we didn't want to waste any Continue Reading
Things to Do in Busan
During my time visiting Travis in South Korea, we took a one day trip to Busan. Busan is the second biggest city in the country with a population of more than 3 million. We had a couple things we wanted to see, but for the most part we just played it by ear and enjoyed our day. Things to Do in Busan that We Recommend First, we went to Busan Tower. Remember when we went up in the 83 Tower in Daegu? Well, this was very similar except we could look out onto the city of Busan, complete with the ocean beyond. At the bottom of the tower, thousands up thousands of people have placed love Continue Reading
Things to Do in Bali
While my husband, Travis, has been living in South Korea, he has been able to visit a few new places. One of those places was Bali, Indonesia where he spent a few days exploring. He has given me a list of places he went and things he did, so I can share with you a great list of things to do in Bali. Travis' Recommendations Lumbung Sari House of Coffee Sit in your own personal bungalow right on the water as they bring you 15 different flavors of coffee and tea. I am not a huge coffee and tea drinker, but these were so good! Plus, after I finished drinking them all, I felt like I could Continue Reading
Fun Things to Do in NYC
I recently spent a long weekend in New York City visiting two of my very best friends. I've come up with this list from the help of my friend who lives there of fun things to do in NYC. Many of these things are cheap or even free. Fun Things to Do in NYC Take the Staten Island ferry (for free) to see a great view of the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge. Take a stroll through Central Park. You can rent a row boat there too. See a Broadway play -- if you get there early and wait in line, you can get rush tickets usually Continue Reading
Things to Do in Dallas Fort Worth
Have I mentioned this is my year of traveling? I hope I have lots of years of traveling, but this feels like my first big "let's see how many places I can go" year. I've been to South Carolina, Korea, Hawaii, Tennessee, and Florida so far this year. Plus, I've lived in Georgia and Indiana. I've drove through even more states! In fact, I've visited three new states I've never been to -- Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. I went through those states during my trip to Texas. It's kind of random how I ended up going to Texas, but I jumped on the chance to take a trip down there. We went to the Continue Reading
