Every year for the past five years or so, I've chosen a word to represent the coming year. Last year, my word was New. I had prayed a lot about what my word for the year should be, and I felt God saying "new" over and over. Looking back, I can see all the ways "new" fit. After living apart for a year and going through some struggles, my marriage became new in 2016. We moved twice that year -- once to Missouri and then to Tennessee -- new areas to explore, new homes to make our own, new people to meet. We experienced loss last year, but we also got pregnant again and have got to see all the Continue Reading
2016 Word of the Year
Last year, I broke all the rules and had two words for 2015 -- Brave Adventure. It turns out those were the perfect words for that year. I had to be brave many, many times, and a lot of the year was a complete adventure -- good adventures and bad. We bought a house and property for the first time. My husband and I were living separately due to the military. I traveled to South Korea. We visited Hawaii and the Philippines. I visited Texas and New York. Brave adventure for sure. As 2015 came to a close, I began praying about what my word for 2016 should be. I thought about the things that Continue Reading
Word of the Year: 2014
I know most people posted their one word for 2014 last week, but I needed a little more time to decide what my word should be. The new year came in a rush! I was busy spending time with my family in Indiana -- focusing on quality time rather than blogging. I did post a recap of the year, and let me tell you my word for 2013 fit perfectly. We were so blessed with so much love. Yes, my word for 2013 was love. My year of 2013 was definitely filled with love from friends, family and my husband. Travis and I started reading The Five Love Languages, so I've been working on showing love in Continue Reading
2013 Recap
What a fantastic year 2013 was for me and my family. So many blessings and so much love! This post is a recap of how my past year was. We have a niece! Our first niece was born in January, giving me a reason to buy baby clothes (which I love!). She is precious, and I love spending time with her. I turned 24. I spent my birthday weekend meeting my new niece who was only a few days old. She's the youngest baby I've ever held. Travis and I visited her and our nephew before driving on to Georgia. While there, we looked at houses, condos and apartments until we picked the one we loved Continue Reading
Word of the Year: 2013
For the past couple years, I have been choosing a word to represent my new year rather than making resolutions. Last year, I chose the word "purpose" for 2012. I wanted to put purpose into everything I did. Now looking back on 2012, I believe my word was actually "healing." I spent most of that year being healed by God, having my heart mended. And once I was healed, I received great restoration and joy. For 2013, I've pondered over several words such as change, adventure, joy and journey. All of which seem to describe what 2013 will probably be filled with. But I decided not to go with any Continue Reading
