My husband had surgery recently. Eye surgery. It was a fairly quick procedure. I only had to wait all morning before I got to see that the surgeon hadn't blinded him. We'd been told by several people that the surgery wouldn't be the tough part -- the recovery would. We were told it is very painful and would take a couple weeks before he could see clearly. My husband came home the day before the procedure with a giant bag full of medications and eye drops. As I read the descriptions for when and how many times he was to take each one, I seriously became queasy. I thought I was going to pass Continue Reading

September Visitors
Before September is over, I want to share with ya'll about the fun we had with our visitors this month. My brother and his girlfriend, along with my parents, came to see us! Logan and Kendall (that's my little bro and his woman) could only stay for the weekend because their college classes called. My parents, though, stayed for a whole week! This is a summary of our time with our visitors -- mostly in pictures -- if you follow me on Instagram you may have seen some of these. (I LOVE Instagram!) On our first day with everybody, we went to Tybee Island for some beach time. We packed a picnic Continue Reading
When God Doesn’t Answer
Heartbreak. Prison. Job interview. Travel. Safety. Future. Homework. Stress. Health. Forgiveness. Salvation. Healing. Comfort. Peace. All of these things have been in my prayers lately. I feel like my prayer list has been full to the brim recently. Do you ever feel like that? I've been praying for friends, family, acquaintances, and even strangers. I keep a prayer request list in my head. Sometimes, when it gets extra full I journal my prayers. Sometimes I pray with my husband. Sometimes I pray alone. I pray in the shower, in the car, while I work out, before bed, or in the Continue Reading
Sweet & Tangy Glazed Chicken
This chicken is pretty yummy, especially on top of noodles or rice. It really is both sweet and tangy, and the crushed red pepper adds a kick! Just look at that picture, doesn't it look so good? This is a crock pot meal, but there is a little bit of prep work before you can serve -- nothing too hard though. Here's what'll you need: Boneless, skinless chicken breasts Soy sauce Brown sugar Apple cider vinegar Garlic Sprite Crushed red pepper Pepper Cornstarch One of the great things about this recipe is you don't have to defrost the chicken. I don't know why I love Continue Reading
How to Make a Food Passport
Travis and I moved to a new location about three months ago. We love exploring our new home and the surrounding areas. We are within driving distance of so many neat places -- Savannah, Tybee Island, Jekyll Island, St. Simons Island, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Hilton Head ... There never has to be a boring weekend! We have really enjoyed visiting some of these new places, and we have a list of other places we want to visit in the future. With a new hometown, there are tons of new restaurants. We both like trying new restaurants, but it's hard to remember all the places we once saw and wanted Continue Reading
Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
It's a long name, but these cookies are so good. If you like peanut butter ... if you like chocolate ... if you like cookies, you will like these! And that's all there is to it! Here's what you'll need: Flour Baking soda Salt Butter Peanut butter Sugar Brown sugar Chocolate chips Vanilla Egg Rolled oats First, in a separate bowl mix together the flour, baking soda and salt. In your Kitchen Aid mixer, or in a bowl using a regular mixer, cream together the peanut butter, butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla for about three minutes at medium speed. Continue Reading
Zucchini Chicken Casserole
My mom made this when I lived at home a lot, and we all loved it. This is the first time I made it for my own family, and thankfully it turned out just like mama's! This casserole is delicious! If you want it to be a vegetarian dish, just leave out the chicken. Otherwise, it's a perfect casserole that can count as a whole meal. No need for side dishes! Here's what you'll need: Chicken breasts Zucchini Carrots Onion Sour Cream Stuffing mix Butter Cream of mushroom soup (or chicken or celery) I began by baking the chicken and then I shredded it in my Kitchen Aid Continue Reading
Post-Workout Food Options
Like I've mentioned before during my veggie posts, I've been working out a lot lately. Riding the bike machine at the gym on post and then walking/jogging on a treadmill at an incline. I'm not a fitness master. I'm not in great shape. But I'm stronger than I was yesterday. As long as I'm keeping up with my workout each day, I'm always stronger than the day before. I'm improving. Slowly. But I am. When I get home after my workout, I either shower or eat depending on how hungry I am. I usually get home from the gym close to noon, so it's lunch time. The worst thing to do would be to open Continue Reading
Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
This bread is way better than your normal banana bread. Even my husband loved it and it has chocolate in it! I made it the other day and it was ready and still warm when Travis got home from work. Supper wasn't quite ready yet, so it was the perfect appetizer for him since he walks in the door starving every day. Making my husband happy when he walks in that door brings us both sunshine! Here's what you'll need: Yellow cake mix Eggs Overripe bananas Chocolate chips Mash up the bananas. I think four bananas would be best, but I only had two so I just went with it! (It Continue Reading
White Chicken Chili
When my husband and I were dating, we talked about who would do which chores. We didn't want to have the wrong expectations and end up fighting during our marriage. One of the things we talked about was who would do the cooking. We agreed I would cook most meals for our family. But I didn't want to have to cook every single day for the rest of our lives. So we came up with "Daddy Dinner Night." One night a week, my husband does the cooking for our evening meal. Even though he's not a daddy yet, we still call it Daddy Dinner Night. Someday, he'll be a daddy and it will make sense. Our Daddy Continue Reading
Cookies & Cream Milkshake
You know what is great about milkshakes? There are so many different flavors! One of my all-time favorite milkshake flavors is cookies and cream. When my husband whipped me up one and I tasted it's sweet creamy wonderfulness, I knew I had to share it with ya'll. Here's what you'll need: Oreos Milk Vanilla ice cream Pretty simple, huh? Put the Oreos in a Ziploc bag and crush them up. My husband used his big strong hands. But you could use a rolling pin too. Put the ice cream and milk in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the Oreo crumbs into the Continue Reading
Spicy Taco Chicken
TACOS. My husband loves tacos. Although, he uses soft taco shells instead of hard taco shells, so to me they are burritos. He calls them nachos. His whole family does. I don't get it. Tacos, burritos, or nachos -- call it what you will, but it's good. I don't like hamburger. Most people can't believe it, but I just don't. It's strange, I like steak or roast, but get that hamburger away from me. So instead of putting hamburger in our tacos, I wanted to try a Mexican chicken. And that's how this recipe came to be. Here's what you'll need: Chicken tenderloin breasts, Continue Reading
