Well we missed a few months on this series, but that happens. Don't worry, though, he's back! In case you've forgotten, the Guy Behind the Blog series is where my husband, Travis, takes over and answers some questions so we can get to know him more. Here are this month's questions and Travis' answers. 1. We’re headed into fall, which means cooler temps for most of us … are you a warm weather or cold weather kind of guy? I am definitely a warm weather guy. I really don't like the cold at all; however, fall is my favorite season. I love to see leaves changing colors, going to bonfires, Continue Reading

Sugar Cream Pie
Sugar Cream Pie. I'd never had it before. In fact, I had never even heard of it! But it is one of my husband's favorite desserts. So of course I had to learn to make it! This recipe is really pretty easy as long as you follow the instructions exactly. It could be difficult to get it the right consistency. Here's what you need: Half and half Butter Sugar Cornstarch Pie crust Vanilla Cinnamon Bake the pie crust. Mix the sugar and cornstarch together. Set aside. What God Said to Me at Allume 2015
A couple weeks ago I attended Allume. When someone asks me what Allume is I always say, "a blogging conference." But Allume is so much more than that. Yes, I learn a little bit about how to improve my blog, but this conference is a lot more about my heart than about my space on the Internet. Last year was my first time attending Allume. I had been longing for community, and Allume gave me a fresh dose of fellowship -- just like I had been needing. Last year was all about connecting with others, handing out business cards, and learning as much as I could about blogging. This year was Continue Reading

When you scroll through your Facebook news feed, what do you see? What types of images are your eyes scanning? What types of videos do you stop to watch? How to Help a Grieving Friend
What do we say when someone is grieving? How do we help when a friend is in pain? Are you wondering how to help a grieving friend? This topic has been on my heart lately. I've been told the saying, "God won't give you more than you can handle" during my own times of grief. In fact, it's a saying I believed and said to others. But not anymore. There are a lot of things in this world that God doesn't hand out. I believe most of the time, God is not the one causing our pain. Yes, He allows it, but He doesn't cause it or give it to us like some angry, punishing God. A lot of times the pain in Continue Reading
How to Clean Drywall Dust
My bedroom renovation included drywall. And drywall means dust. A lot of it. Like piles of dust covering everything. I walked into my room after the drywall was complete and the sanding was finished. I was overwhelmed by the amount of dust. And I seriously was not sure how to clean it. Along the way, I learned some things. Tips for Cleaning Drywall Dust While cleaning, be sure to wear a mask over your nose and mouth. Breathing in the dust is not good for you. Be sure to keep the room closed off from other rooms or you'll have dust everywhere. Keep registers or vents closed or keep air Continue Reading

Bedroom Renovation
Slowly but surely. That seems to be how my bedroom renovation is coming along. It started out with a tan wallpaper that had small daisies on it. It had nothing but a light bulb for a light fixture. The ceiling was made up of squares that seemed to have some mildew on them. The room wasn't awful, but it wasn't what I wanted. I pictured it much different. I really wanted to paint this room. I began taking the wallpaper off, only to realize there were SIX layers of wallpaper -- all different colors and patterns. One of the wallpaper patterns was of men on horses, I assume fox Continue Reading
